Very hot. Tried to leave them on max to see how long the battery would last, but that got too hot for me. I found Level one is fine for normal use. Although they noticeably do heating and cooling cycles so sometimes they feel much warmer than others. I really like the big size tho and the way you can curve your fingers around each unit. The 2 halves stick together if needed but with this big model that feels unnecessary to me, however individually the 2 heaters are great, even for larger hands. My partner convinced me to give them another go and after a full recharge, performance was completely different and much better. They get properly toasty (though not quite as fast as advertised) and provide consistent, comfortable heat.
