Mepore671000 Dressing Adhesive, Island, Non Woven Fabric, Semi-Permeable Backing, Sterile, 9 cm x 15 cm (Pack of 50)

These are great adhesive dressings for keeping wounds clean and free from infection. These are not waterproof coverings, but you can cover with either cling film, or a waterproof covering over the top for bathing or showering. These don't have a strong sticky pad but I've found they are very secure and I've had no issues with them coming off. If you have a fairly superficial wound then I would opt for these over a plaster as I think these are more breathable, meaning the wound keeps mosit but not wet which can happen with plasters. I always keep a supply of these in stock and I would recommend them. I would also recommend 3M Tegaderm dressings as well, see my separate review for those.

My husband spent over 50 days in hospital from March to December 2012. He had two major operations on his legs and a couple of minor ones. His wounds did very well but one particular place just would not heal. After some time he was sent home and I was volunteered to dress the wounds for him. I found most of the dressings available to us were of no use as his skin around the wound kept blistering. Our Surgery nurses were unable to prescribe Mepore and so I was forced to buy some myself. I was so relieved that we were able to do this and that it was not as expensive as we feared. Within a week there was great improvement. The wounds are now all healed and looking good. Mepore is fine for his skin but not so Softpore another product in the range. I would do the same again if necessary.

Having only been given a small supply of wound dressings after an operation I asked husband to get some large plasters when out shopping. Found some really good ones in Morrisons but only 5 to a pack and only just covered wound. They were 100mm x 90mm in size with the central wound pad much smaller. Although not a bad price it was becoming a regular expense buying three packets each week as the wound was not drying up. Normally would have left dressing on a few days but I was beginning to remove dressing each evening to let air get at wound to hopefully aid drying up. Also I would have preferred a slightly bigger central pad that covered the wound. Looked on Amazon, found these in the size I had been buying and which I was sure were the make I had been given by hospital. On reading reviews I was interested in one that gave the measurement of the pad that covers the wound and not just the measurement of the whole dressing which is why I went for this bigger size. The actual dressing is 9cm x 15cm with the wound pad 10cm x 4.5cm. It's not good having a large plaster if the bit covering the wound doesn't fit and could be risky to have a sticky part on a wound. I find they stick well enough as long as the skin is dry and does not have any lotions or creams on. Although only a couple of pence per plaster cheaper I am happier with the bigger size and buying in bulk is more convenient and I am not worrying about running out all the time. Really pleased.

Good value and fit for purpose

These are wonderful. Very soft with a light adhesive edging that sticks adequately but very easy to remove without pain or residue. They come in excellent sizes, and this size is ideal for a problem I have on my foot right now after suffering a couple of bites that turned red and itchy. and I really need a barrier to prevent my finger nails from getting at them. Not only that but the itchiness is much less with these. Can't recommend highly enough. I'll be stocking my cupboard with these regularly from now on.

These are great for the price. Not sure how to rate the absorbency as such, I have tried cheaper ones and these are better, however there are also more expensive ones which I have not tried.What I do know it they do the job I need them too and the price is good. (though I suppose like anything if they reduced the price all the better :p)

Great Price fast and easy delivery

Not great, poor adhesion and just poor product overall. The padding is so thin it's useless in absorbing any liquid.
