I LOOKED THROUGH MANY CHOICES THAT ARE OUT THERE, BUT AFTER READING MULTIPLE REVIEWS ON MOST I CHOSE THIS TOILET CAT TRAINER KIT. AND I AM SO HAPPY WITH IT. AT FIRST, I PUT THE KITTIE LOO ON THE FLOOR USING WEE WEE PADS ON TOP OF IT SINCE MY NEWLY ACQUIRED KITTIE IS USED TO GO ON PADS. AFTER SEEING HIM USE IT FOR THE WHOLE DAY I MOVED IT UP TO THE HUMAN TOILET THE NEXT DAY. AND I STARTED TO PUT JUST PIECES OF WEE WEE PAD IN THE MIDDLE VS THE WHOLE PAD. MY KITTEN HAD NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER USING THE LOO UP ON THE TOILET BE IT FOR PEEING OR POOPING. AND ACTUALLY HE WAS WAY MORE COMFORTABLE ON HIS SEAT WITHOUT THE WHOLE PAD ON TOP. TODAY I DID NOT USE PIECES OF WEE WEE PAD AT ALL. NO PROBLEM FOR THE MY 6 MONTH KITTEN. SOON I WILL REMOVE THE MIDDLE PART. BUT I THINK I WILL KEEP THE REST OF THE CAT SEAT ON THE TOILET BECAUSE HE WILL NOT HAVE TO STRUGGLE TO HOLD HIMSELF UP ON THE REGULAR HUMAN SEAT THAT IS WAY MORE NARROWER NOT AS FLAT. THE CAT SEAT IS WIDE AND STURDY ENOUGH AND CAT IS VERY COMFORTABLE BEING ON IT WITHOUT STEPPING IN THE MIDDLE PART AT ALL, WHICH IN TURN, KEEPS HIS PAWS TOTALLY CLEAN. WHEN I NEED TO USE TOILET MYSELF THE KITTIE SEAT I CAN BE EASILY MOVED AWAY AND BE PUT BACK ON AFTER. I WOULD ALSO ADD HERE THAT THE CAT SEAT STAYS WAY BETTER ON TOP OF HUMAN TOILET SEAT VS IT BEING UP.

Like many folks I've tried the ring-style trainers and they're a disaster. This product is well built and clearly someone put a lot of thought into it. It fits the toilet and is very stable. I have large cats and they weren't able to shake it off. Unfortunately I can't use it because of my Ever Clean litter falls through the holes at the bottom of the device. I removed it from the toilet to find I had a toilet bowl-full of clumping cat litter. I had to scoop it all out by hand which was disgusting to say the least. Talk about a plumbing disaster! It would be nice if the company included instructions on what kind of litter to use to avoid this. I don't have the time to buy lots of different litter to figure out what doesn't fall through. Secondly, my cats never really seemed to adapt to the device as a trainer. They regularly jumped up to investigate the new contraption and then proceeded to fling litter all around the bathroom as they played in their new toilet-sandbox. I don't mind the cleanup, but the training never progressed past that. I'm sure your results will vary depending on what kind of litter you use and the behavior of your cats. It's probably worth a shot for most people who want to toilet train and is certainly better than the other options on the market.

I considered all options for toilet training and chose this one for the following reasons: CONS: -It’s thin and not bulky for when I travel with the cat -it provides a layer of protection so him and I don’t have to use the same surface -it’s easy to take off the toilet -it is reusable and durable in case you want to train more than one cat or your baby needs to take a step back and start over CONS: - The price seems expensive considering that I needed to make adjustments and buy other things for this to work. - It is of all the options the more sensical for me and my comfort but perhaps the least intuitive one for my cat ADJUSTMENTS and solutions: - it should come with its own litter box that is the right size and height providing stability for the step 1. For the price, this should be provided. Plus it’s so hard to find one that is the right size for the kitty loo lid. - the top surface should be slanted slightly or the slanted inner ring should be more slanted or thicker - this should come with better gripping stickers and a way or handle to Stick the system to the toilet sides. (ADVICE FOR BUYERS) - buy a small litter box for phase 1. The smallest you can find. I bought the NESS Or VANNES one here in Amazon the small size, it was about $5. The important thing is that the lid over the litter box is stable. I lost weeks on end on progressing because the cat got scared that the litter box plus toilet thing kept flipping over while he was attempting to get on. For stability I had to end up putting two cans of cat food (tiki cat 5oz fit) on each side handle of the kitty loo lid. My cat is 12 pounds, and he definitely needed the stability. Each time the thing flipped it took 2 weeks to get back on track. -I believe this was successful because I have an adaptable extroverted cat and I was home 100% of the time. He needed a lot of comforting and encouraging words and then he would go. He held his pee for 12 hours sometimes and I had to persuade him with litter pouring and staying there next to him. So if you work 8 hours out of the home I don’t think this is for you. You will come home to pee in the bathtub or poo in the floor. When we transition esto the toilet he started looking for other places, since I was there with him I kept redirecting him to the toilet and blocking the other places where I could see he was considering going. Patience, patience, patience. I only have one toilet and several people use it so I had to lock myself with the cat sometimes until he went. And I saw him struggle to Aim and he would give up etc. In the end he is a good communicator and will let me know when he’s stressed and needs me to sit w him and watch him pee. We are still in the second to final stage. This stage is much easier than the previous one where the litter box was in tHe floor but with litter in the receptacle since I have clumping litter so it would be hard to clean each time he peed and I ended up using pee pads underneath but then realized it was easier to just clean and Clorox the whole thing after each use. This stage was hard. I believe keeping it clean matters and helps them in the process. Don’t give up at this point it gets much easier in the next step. -LITTER CHOICE: It matters! Some cats will need to be transitioned out of their litter like mine did, but for the stage where the pee goes in the toilet I decided to change the litter and switch from my worlds best cat litter clumpable and flushable litter to the cat genie biodegradable washable plastic one. OMG much much better choice. The cat pees and I just pour water over it and clean it out that way. Often I’ll put desinfectante and then pour water over it while on the toilet still, and then just flush. The clumping one was pure misery. I try to clean it and switch it for dry pellets so that there’s no tracking. He doesn’t seem to mind. I give him a treat after he goes which has resulted in him letting me know he went each time. Sometimes he tells me before going cos he needs company. All in all, I’m glad I bought it, and he seems to be adjusting. I just wish I would have known these things before hand to have a more streamlined process.

UPDATE: My cat is completely toilet trained & the only awkward part is that sometimes you have to wait until he’s finished to use the toilet yourself. Ok, so we’re not completely finished training, but I’m just too excited to wait any longer to review! I was so so weary that this would not work. The bowl for the litter seemed to small, and my kitty was super picky about the type of litter he uses. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever get home to switch to the pellets that can be used on the toilet. But Luca took right to it. The instructions are well written and easy to follow. We started Luca on the seat on top of a small litter box, right next to the toilet. LoL, he became bathroom buddies with everyone. Anytime one of us went to use the toilet, so did he! Just like potty training my kids 😂 We followed directions on switching from his favorite clay litter, to the pellet litter and he never batted an eye. Then it was time to move him to the toilet. We were sure this would be a difficult step and that he’d have lots of accidents. That just wasn’t the case. He jumped right up and used his seat on the toilet. We are still using the bowl on his seat, but we’re down to the last row of pellets and plan to forgo litter soon. He has had one accident since we started toilet training him, and that was because we played with him too long in the bedroom, without giving him a chance to use his seat. So that one was really on us. He has become fastidious about his toileting habits. He waits until I get up in the morning and until I get home from work. He likes it best if I’m there so that I’ll clean up his poop right away. He will still go if I don’t, but he has preferences 😉 I am very glad we decided to go with this brand of seat. I was dubious of other brands because they didn’t look sturdy, this seat is thick plastic that blends in with my toilet. It does not bend or warp. It is easy to clean and move around. I also thought it was a bit high priced at first, but my husband pointed out how much money we would save on cat litter if it worked. Honestly, it’s not just the cat litter we save, it’s the time we would spend cleaning a disgusting litter box, not having to clean up loose clay litter everyday, and not worrying about my house smelling of cat urine! That last one is the best. Yes, it takes patience. So does potty training a child. But it’s well worth it. I can’t wait to move onto the next step, but in all honesty, if he never was able to use the toilet without this seat, I’d still be ok with it. That’s not what I want and I don’t think that will be the end result, I’m just saying that I’m already pleased with the results.

I had high hopes for this product for reasons like saving money on litter, saving time from scooping throughout the day, and overall just having a cleaner home. This product did not work for me, I have two cats and bought two of these things. At first, it seemed to be going well, we downsized the litter box as instructed. We placed the kitty’s loo on the floor next to the litter box to let them get familiarized with it, as instructed. But when it came time to put the kitty’s loo on top of the small litter box, the cats had a hard time trying to figure out how to use it. They kept missing every time they would urinate, which this brand did not give any advice for other than to clean it up. I looked online and couldn’t find any information to help, so this process has just been frustrating honestly. Additionally, at this step, it was very difficult to find a litter box that kitty’s loo would sit nicely on top of. I ended up having to use cans of cat food on both sides to help hold up both sides since it’s not very sturdy. My breaking point was when the cats started urinating in inappropriate places, like my bed- twice within 24 hours. That’s what did it for me, so I’ll just continue scooping their litter from now on unfortunately. Not worth the money, though it would have been nice if this product had addressed any of these concerns.

Soon as I set it down, showed my kitten (13 weeks old) checked it out. Then she walked off but went right back to it. She used it doing #1 first then moved to the other side and used it for #2. This was all with in 15 minutes of putting it on the floor. So she needed to go but she used it. All four legs on the side and she hovered over the litter in the little bowl. My concern is if she poops a lot she will get it on her feet trying to cover it up. This is something we will have to wait and see. I am impressed because I bought one of the ones that has the plastic middle and you remove a section at a time. We have had this for a week and she would only pee in it. Pop was on the floor by it, for some reason she did not want to use it to poo in. This is still new and just minutes after getting it so we will see. I will reply to this later on, starting off this is great, I can see her using it and the lid is perfect it is wide and plenty of room to stand on. Great so far. ( we placed in on a box where her litter was)

I assumed it would either fit snugly, or come with clips or some way to secure the platform to the toilet seat? I thought my 6 month old cat/8 pound cat would be a good candidate since she jumps on the toilet seat frequently anyway. But since I put this on, because it slides under her weight and bounces/scatters litter when she jumps off, she doesn't jump on the seat at all anymore.

Hi, we're a 4 cat home. One is senior...15yrs old. And here are photos of month number 2 on this venture. It's been interesting trying 4 cats at once. The male is most delighted to please his humans. 3yr old female not as much. I have to catch her in the act and set her on the toilet. Old 15yr old needed stairs. So I bought a set of puppy beside stairs in plastic with minimal carpet grip to try keeping this all sanitary as possible. Flushable clumping sucks. Avoid it! I use the breeze litter pellets with this toilet kit. It allows pee to drain. The pellets are much less absorbant. Then I empty them in the trash. We are on my using a handful of litter pellets now. I took all litter away and found the boy confused. He's started pawing entire rolls of toilet paper into the dish area. Also the old cat stopped using it all together and opted for meowing at the front door to pee outside. So I had to return a handful with of litter to them.... after all it's 4 cats at 4 different ages and training levels simultaneously. That's asking alot. Patience is key. Small steps each week is also key. Don't give up! Be kind no matter the mistake! Use positive attention, not treats! They also really enjoy faucet water as a reward. Get ready to be super patient and remember it is a journey that's not natural to cats. They bury their waste on instinct and want to be clean on instinct. Week 1: move litter box to bathroom Week 2: raise litter box 2 inches. Then continue 2 inches per week until level to toilet. Invite cat in with human. So they relate proper activity to toilet. Week 4: set up this toilet kit. Let them be curious. Week 7: offer stair to toilet and none to litter box. Week 8: remove litter box. And pray. Offer Abundance of positive attention for using toilet. Like you do when potty training a toddler really. Also, we have 2 bathrooms. That's probably a must. And if the furthest I get is 4 cats keeping the half bathroom with the inner litter strainer removed then hey, I'll still be happy. That would mean no more scooping. Just flush toilet every day. Still saves smell and cost. But I want to add a brick to tank lowering water level because the kerrplop splash veers the boy away from going completely free of kit. The rest aren't too that point yet. I will update in a few months. Interesting little winter hobby so far.
