King Mod: Peter Meaden, The Who, and the Making of a Subculture

Great read about the King of Mod
I had read bits about Meaden but never anything like this book. I was pleased to be able to get the full story on a character that has always been this mythical character from the 60’s Mod scene. It’s a great read telling the story of his mental illness the love of Mod and it’s underground music and how it shaped his life and the discovery of the Who. The full interview from ‘79 gives you a look into his mind and how fast it was running. Definitely worth reading if you have interest in Mod culture passed or present and 60’s music. Meaden should have got a lot more recognition for his part in the Who’s success. A true style icon that was on the top of everything new in Mod. Others followed his lead in the 60’s and still do.
