Well-made, bird friendly, squirrel-proof!
I was mildly concerned to read that some folks mentioned in their reviews that they had difficulties attracting birds to this feeder. No such problem here - there were birds (chickadees, house finches, and goldfinches) using it before I even got back to the back door.Feeder seems solid and sturdy, also is attractive and holds plenty of bird seed. Time will tell if it’s easy to clean. Time will also tell if the squirrels are stymied, though I am optimistic!

This feeder works! NO SQUIRRELS!
This is the first bird feeder I have had that actually keeps the squirrels out. Their weight on the perches closes off the feeding areas. After a week the squirrels are just eating the bird food that drops to the ground. The smaller sparrows eat all day and share the feeder with the blue jays and black birds. The feeding tube is made of sturdy plastic, is easy to fill and the screw top hook blocks any water from seeping in. The only negative is that when the seed goes below the middle feeding perches the birds can only access the food from the bottom. The feeder is busy all day because the squirrels don't empty our the seeds!

Excellent squirrel proof feeder
We replaced a very old squirrel proof feeder with this one. It looks great, keeps the seed dry, and so far, keeps the squirrels and the annoying raccoon that lives nearby out. Just as we hoped. The only surprise is It’s not quite as popular with the birds as the old one was, I think because the old feeder sloshed seed around so much the birds could empty it in a day. This one only allows a bird to get one or two seeds at a time. The seeds last a long time, but I think the birds don’t want to work quite that hard….since it’s warm, they have lots of food sources. I suspect they will be all over this one in the cooler time of year.

Promising, well-built feeder, with a serious flaw
I have had this feeder setup for a couple of weeks now and can say it's the best I've ever used. The birds like it and I haven't seen any squirrels, so it works as expected. It looks really nice doing it and the build quality is very good.ETA: After a few months of usage, the feeder has held up well and is effective against squirrels. The problem I had with it is that birds don't want to use the bottom two feeding ports, so once the feeder is down to half-full, they stop coming.

Squirrel proof
My squirrels have made multiple attempts to gain access and failed, however a chipmunk was able t0o eat the seeds, probably due to lighter weight. Because the top cover is heavy metal and screwed down, they cannot get in there.

It outlasted 7 other feeder models
So I bought this feeder in April along with 4 other models to try out. Within 2 months, 3 of the models were destroyed by the local squirrels. A month after that another one went. This was still sanding strong. I bought 2 more models to try out as I wanted a larger, longer feeder for bigger birds. Well, both of those models were gone after 3 days. This feeder has withstood months of squirrel beatings and survived. The metal top that is screwed down rather than tied to the caged spring mechanism I think is the key. Most of the other models I tried also had the spring cage outside that triggers by weight, but the lids became accessible when the weight was triggered. Squirrels figured out real quick that if they sit on the cage, the lid can be peeled up. This one doesn't have that.I do with that it had a larger version so I could have bigger birds available to it. Right now with the way this is laid out and with the size the only birds that can really interact with the feed are goldfinches, small sparrows, and chickadees. I've had a couple of cardinals attempt with varying degrees of success but its definitely not easy for them.Overall, I really like this feeder and very much attribute that to the metal screw top lid. Gunna def buy another one.

Didn’t Deter Squirrels At All
I had high hopes for this feeder - I even hung it over a foot out from the eaves of my house. The squirrels jumped from the eaves to the feeder, hung upside down from its top, shook it until the seed pooled at the base, then fed away. The poor birds were only able to eat seed that had fallen to the ground. It was a very frustrating and costly lesson.

Birds don't like it, but at least it's squirrel proof
I got this to replace a cheap rusty bird feeder. Wanted something that looked nicer. Have had it for a year now and I can tell you definitively that the birds WILL NOT eat out of this thing, no matter what I do. Tried varying the location, putting better food in this one. Nope, birds don't like it. The openings are so small, I have not seen a single bird get food out of it. One time I saw SEVEN birds clustered at the old rusty feeder, one attempted to get food out of the new feeder, then gave up and just waited it's turn at the old feeder instead. That's when I knew there's just no hope for this thing. Looks so pretty, I really wish it would have worked.Edit: I tried removing the other bird feeder altogether and I'm seeing more birds try to use it now, so I'm adding one star. It's also pretty squirrel proof, and given that birds may actually use it, I'll add one more star. But, I still believe birds don't like how small the openings are. You would get more success with a different feeder. If you're having major squirrel issues, this might be a good pick tho.

Bird's Love It and It Looks Great
I don't know what's wrong with those who said their birds wouldn't use it - it sounds like a personal problem - because my birds took to it in minutes. Now they're lining up to feed from every port.I like the aesthetics of the design, but that's subjective, it happens to suit our house and personal style (a lot more than most bird feeders, which tend towards the twee). The one thing I'd change is the access hatch, which needs to be laboriously unscrewed in order to refill it, and has a very narrow opening when you do. Refilling is messier and more time-consuming than it needs to be. Also the bird silhouette decorations, they don't add anything (and again, twee).
