Incredible Performance and Value
For a new music room in my basement, I shopped for an integrated amp, speakers, and a subwoofer. At first, I purchased Focal Theva #1 speakers along with Marantz PM700N amp and Klipsch 12" subwoofer. Focal speakers sounded a bit too light through Marantz amp, and didn't gel well with the subwoofer. Somehow the midrange sounded hollow. Since the Marantz amp was defective anyway (only playing CD channel properly), I promptly returned it, and opted in for the Yahama amp. When I hooked up the Focal speakers to this Yahama integrated amp, a whole new world of sound just opened up for me. Here are the pros and cons of the Yamaha R-N800A amplifier. Pros: * It sounds incredibly clean. Focal speakers deliver amazingly clean sound to begin with, so the result is just out of this world. * Paired with the Focal speakers, the soundsacpe becomes exteremly vast, and the soud separation is very efficient. It is as if every instrument sits in its respective position in a 3D space. * At 100W per channel, it is powerful enough to shake the room. I put on 12" Klipsch subwoofer, and it has no trouble driving the whole system in a balanced way. * I constantly play my old CDs now, as CD channel provides the best sound. I hooked up a Cambridge Audio CD player. * It is very convenient to have many network connections in one package. I find ApplePlay provides the best sound when playing through my phone (rather than using Bluetooth). * Phone app is easy to install and intuitive to operate, providing many set up and music playing options. * YPAO set up is easy, and it correctly measured the speaker distances within inches. * Remote control is light and efficiently designed. But it gives cheap plastic feeling. Cons: * Provided phono channel isn't up to par at all. So, I installed a separate phono pre-amp from Campbridge Audio, and it sounds wonderful now. * YPAO sound adjustment provides slightly improved left-right balance, but through it, "something" gets lost. I repeatedly felt that "YPAO Off" mode provides fuller and more original sound. If you are compelled to use YPAO to listen to music at a low volume at night, turn off the YPAO EQ switch, which muddies the sound even more. At a loud volime, I just turn the YPAO off. * Be careful when jumping from turntable to CD, as required volume levels are quite different. * I think bass, treble, and balance control knobs could have looked better in a circular form. I almost didn't purchase this product because of it. (I bought a black one, so it doesn't visibly bother me that much.) I strongly recommend this amplifier for anyone who is looking for a great network amplifier around $1,000. It will sound like you paid a lot more for it.

Yamaha R-N800A Streaming Integrated Receiver = Great Buy
This is a great all-in-one Yamaha integrated receiver with built-in streaming included. No need to purchase and add an additional streaming device. I purchased it during a sale period, which made it an even greater value. Remember, this is strictly a 2 channel receiver, with the capability of adding a powered sub to make it a 2.1 channel HiFi stereo setup. I've owned this unit now for a few months and very happy with it. It has been working flawlessly for me and sounds great. I feel that the build quality is top notch as well. Do not mistake this for an AVR, with multi-channel setup, as some folks have. If you're looking to put together a simple 2 channel HiFi stereo setup only, this Yamaha integrated receiver will do it for you inexpensively.

Good features and performance.
Great upgrade from my 30 year old Technics unit. Attractive, well built, big transformer and heat sinks; legit power amp. Wifi streaming works great, internal DAC sounds really good. The Yamaha controller app works great on my IPad. Full complement of physical controls on front panel is great. One star off for thin sheet metal on the rear speaker connectors; could have been more solid feeling.

This is the one to get no doubt about it
So I review Hi-Fi equipment on YouTube, I won't link my channel but anyway. This is perhaps one of the best all-in-one streaming amplifiers / Swiss army knife Hi-Fi products I've had the pleasure to use. I picked this up about a month ago to use as a part of a second system and also to review it. Truth be said I've had the NAD c368 blue OS and I've also had the Marantz stereo 70s and the nr1200 and this is far and let me repeat far the better option. First off the sound quality is definitely more neutral than the Marantz and not as warm but it's more consistent. The Marantz had a tendency to sound good when playing vinyl and through the streaming but when using the HDMI or digital inputs or the analog inputs it wasn't as good, not so would the Yamaha, every input and every function sounds just as good as any other one. This definitely has a better application than HEOS, Marantz gets a lot of flack for that application and understandably so, however the Yamaha application is just better. It's more stable it works better and it allows you to do what you need to do every time you open the app. Also adding that I what advise people not to pay too much attention to people who have problems with apps or internet connectivity and who leave bad reviews because of that. I found over the years that most of those complaints are down to the individual environments that these people are use are utilizing those products that they're complaining about. The NAD definitely has the better app however the Yamaha just sounds better. Like I said weather through vinyl or digital inputs or analog inputs or streaming or Bluetooth even, the Yamaha just sounds better. It has a more involving sound and a more organic sound and a sound that draws you in to the music and you don't want to turn it off. The NAD is fine and the app is better no doubt about it, but after about an hour I can't help but want to turn it off because I'm tired of listening to it.

Seems nice but nothing but trouble with Internet connection
I bought this six months ago and already it will not connect to the Internet anymore. I’ve tried different Wi-Fi networks. I’ve tried factory restart nothing. Gonna have to try to return this if it’s still under warranty

Overdue-Upgrade
Purchased the R-N800a to use with my 32 year old Klipsch Forte II speakers. The price drop allowed me to take the plunge. Couldn’t be happier. Sound quality step-up from the antiquated AV receiver/WiiM setup I was using is quite dramatic, especially in the lower bass, no sub needed. I mainly listen to Apple music and CDs in a small room.

High Quality Integrated Amp. Best to use with YPAO
Amazing sound, easy streaming (Amazon, Apple, Tidal Connect, etc.). I initially struggled to get the tone controls correct manually but then I used YPAO and the difference in the sound was amazing. Highly recommended but you MUST use YPAO to hear its full HiFi potential.

Awesome receiver!
This receiver is a great combination of an integrated amp and network streamer. After extensive research I chose this for the simplicity, power, features, build quality, and reputation. I’ve hooked up multiple types of speakers and it sounds great. For the money it makes a great value for everything that you get.

Excelente amplificador streamer.
