Stack-On TC-16-GB-K-DS Tactical Security Cabinet, Gray/Black

I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about this security cabinet. I bought this for about $200 on Amazon, which was a great deal. The cabinet itself is pretty sturdy and the exterior comes fully assembled. The inside shelving must be put together, which can be a little bit of a pain, but is worth the hassle due to the ability to customize to your specific needs. A lot of reviews indicated people were receiving some of the shelving in a bent or warped condition, and I received the same. The tall separators were bent a bit, but I was able to bend them back with very little force. Although they didn't look perfect, once I inserted the shelving, it was completely unnoticeable. The locking mechanism on this thing is fantastic! It is of very sturdy and heavy, solid metal material. I originally wanted a digital safe for my weapons, but after reading many negative reviews about being able to bypass the lock with a little YouTube training (So easy a child could do), I decided this was the safest option. This cabinet does not disappoint and is a very safe, and economical option if you're looking to store your weapons/ammo.

Overall, a great unit. Some assembly is required, two people makes the job much easier, simply because its not feasible to reach inside to hold a lock nut while you use a screwdriver on the outside to put the screws in, especially on the right side where the door swings open.As some have already said, mine arrived with some slight damage. The case itself was slightly dented along the outside front right edge, and two of the shelves were dented (easy to fix that though). Shelves and partitions went in snug and tight, and the unit can be secured to the floor and/or the back wall. The whole unit is not terribly heavy, but again, a second set of hands will really help to lift it around for placement. The lock is very smooth, and locks at three points. This will definitely keep kids and visitors out, but not an average burglar with simple hand tools. The keys are tapped to a plastic bag under the unit (easy to miss and throw away by accident). Overall I happy with the unit and it has met my expectations, aside from the dents. The unit does come with pre-cut fitted soft foam padding for the shelves and floor of the unit, so carpet is not necessary unless you really want that premium feel. I would recommend that you get a sensor or click light, it is difficult to see inside the unit even with my bright closet light turned on.

This product is perfect for my needs. It Is a good value as well. Stack On has a good reputation for delivering affordable, well made products. They sell a ton of these online and major retailers carry them as well. I got exactly what I ordered. So what’s my issue?I almost didn’t order this item online because of the horror stories I read. Review after review of the same complaints: No Keys or Damaged Unit due to poor packaging materials and unsecured boxes. Preventable in so many ways. Upgrade the packaging materials and the manner in which they are secured. Make sure that quality control includes keys. It’s not that difficult. During good economic times, unemployable people become employable. Someone at this company is dropping the ball. Worse, they appear not to be doing anything about it due to the expanded length of time that similar reviews have been submitted and continue to be.In my case , packaging was in shambles but thankfully the unit was not damaged. Of course the keys were missing. I call the company and they insist for security reasons that I fax or email them a form and my drivers license. Wouldn’t my Amazon receipt and proof of delivery be sufficient in proving I am the owner? The form can’t even be filled out online. It has to be printed and mailed, fax or scanned.The whole experience is Stack On snatching defeat from the jaws of near victory. Like leading a marathon but running off into the woods a hundred feet from the finish line. What’s the point? Asleep at the wheel.Great product though.....If only I could use it.

Its great. Its not a safe. Its a pretty cool looking cabinet that allows you to organize a weapon system ready for immediate self defense use at home. I have a real safe made by AMSEC which is top notch made in USA for holding the main cadre or collection if you will. This cabinet, USA made, is no nonsense, made of steel, with the basics you need to be organized head on the swivel ready. If you are concerned about protecting loved ones but have children this is perfect to keep them safe while having everything you need staged to repel a common burglar, people casing homes, collection agents, the IRS (just kidding about the IRS), to full fledged home invasion. The locking mechanism is silky smooth and functions flawlessly and unlike an electronic setup or bio-metric, there is no delay. It opens period end of story. Everything installed perfectly, I did use gorilla tape as a second set of hands to help with assembly which was straightforward. The ONLY negative was that it did arrive as others had mentioned with a small dent in the left front middle edge of the cabinet probably from a forklift. I used the multiple language instructions about 15 pages thick and a hammer and lightly tapped it out. Looks beautiful. Everything else was perfect. Shiny, glossy, no scratches, very clean, perfect fit and finish. Disclaimer, none. I do not work for Stack-On or anyone else for that matter LOL!

Upon arrival, it was missing all of the hardware for the shelves. When I contacted Amazon, they wanted to exchange the entire thing. Far too much work for some hardware. So, I figured I would reach out to Stack-On to see if they could just send me the hardware. I sent them an email months ago and still have not heard back. I eventually just went to the hardware store and purchased the needed hardware.Overall, you're paying for the neat stuff on the front and the custom paint job. Not worth it in my opinion. I was able to get everything put together but it was more work than it should have been.
