Your hair needs to be entirely virgin to get a perm and that doesn't take a year if your hair is more than 12 inches and you're in your early 20s you probably shouldn't try to perm your hair til your 30s because your hair can't have any color chemicals in it. After about three uses I noticed a difference (that's just spraying it when showered and then blow drying and styling, although I just blow-dried). My hair was definitely blonder and looked really evenly spread. I had read reviews about it drying out your hair however my hair feels nicely soft and not at all damaged. Another tip is if we get some nice weather, is after spraying and drying, to go out in the sun (be careful not to burn your scalp though!) as the natural sun works really well with the spray to enhance the lightening.
