Dishonest battery life claims
I like the innovative interconnection between alarms. The look and feel of the product are good. Where this safety product is a massive let down is the false claim of 10 years battery life when in fact the battery only lasts around 3 years. Repeated reviews of this product say the same thing. Having invested heavily on this Sona range, I’m now tied-ins. Therefore, over 10 years, I need to replace each of these detectors 3 times. The costs and hassles are 3x more than expected and that’s the reason for my 2 star review. As a smoke detector, it functions just as well as cheap models with batteries that actually last 10 years. The manufacturer needs a rethink on this product, and should cease the false marketing about battery life. It’s most unfair to lie to consumers about safety products.

Found these to b unreliable
We have 10 of these devices installed, hardwired together and one on a mesh-network linked to a controller. The installation is just three years old and 3 have had to be replaced completely during this time at a cost of approximately £45 each. That is excluding the electrican's fees to reconfigure the mesh network when the one connected device went wrong and had to be replaced. That's 30% failure within three years. Apart from, in my view, the unforgivable environmental waste, it has become a financial burden and an inconvenience that we could do without. I am considering ripping the whole lot out.

Good interlinking but mediocre reliability
We have 13 of these that were initially all interlinked but suffered with constant drop outs and false alarms. We have since had all units replaced and only interlinked several (1 from each floor) and found them to be much more reliable. That being said, 1 unit did malfunction within a couple of years of being fitted and another replacement unit purchased.
