Great product!

Worked well but the clipping locking metal could use a bit better design. Very stiff and easy to mess it up so it cuts if you scrape against it.

Item is first quality and will bolt directly to the frame of my Silverado. However, the tip of the hook is so close to the frame end/edge that it seems to be impossible to attach anything to it. I would recommend a longer shaft or shank so it will allow more room for the hook to protrude outward enough to attach a chain, rope, cable, or whatever is being used to tow something.

I used this hook on the dipstick bucket of my small backhoe, it has a longer reach than the loader bucket does, and I use it for placement of heavier things (5th wheel hitch, etc.). I'm going to weld the hook to the bucket arm rather than bolt it on so I don't lose structural strength in the bucket material.

5 stars for quality, 1 star for fitment. I wouldn’t have ordered two of them if Amazon would include the measurement between the mounting points and the length of the hook. I ordered these for my 2004 Ford Explorer because Amazon won’t take the time to actually verify what does and doesn’t fit 3rd and 4th generation (2002-2010) body on frame Explorers and was trying to sell me a screw in recovery loop for 2011 and later unibody Explorers. If anyone is looking for the front tow hooks for their 3rd or 4th generation Explorer (or Ranger), order the ones for a 1999-2003 F-150. They will fit in the factory mounting points on the chassis. It took some searching, but I have found out since ordering these tow hooks that the hooks for 1999-2024 F-150s will fit. I said 99-03 because those Ford OEM tow hooks are one piece forgings and 04 and later are stamped and welded. Hopefully this will help someone.

Well made!!! It doesn't fit my '89 Wrangler on the front rails, but I'll drill holes and install....the bolts are grade 5....well, I actually use stuff, so I'll get some grade 8 bolts for extra security, but one thing is bolts are not measured on shear strength, mostly it is gauged on vertical pull, but shear is taken into account, so since the hook is mounted horizontally, your pulling on the hook and bolts laterally not vertical on the bolts. ...the grade 5 may work, but I'll put some more tensile strength with grade 8.....update as of 6-01-17, still installed, but the bolts supplied rust quick as does the hooks themselves if the paint gets chipped. Just get some rust converter and repaint.
