Grant McKay, former member of The Anarchistic Order of Scientists, has finally done the impossible: He has deciphered Black Science and punched through the barriers of reality. But what lies beyond the veil is not epiphany, but chaos. Now Grant and his team are lost, living ghosts shipwrecked on an infinite ocean of alien worlds, barreling through the long-forgotten, ancient, and unimaginable dark realms. The only way is forward. The only question is how far are they willing to go, and how much can they endure, to get home again? Celebrating 10 years of the critically acclaimed sci fi series by the powerhouse creative duo RICK REMENDER and MATTEO SCALERA, this anniversary edition is crammed with sketches, concept art and other rare goodies in a glorious oversized 8" x 12” hardcover and features an all new cover by Matteo Scalera! Collects BLACK SCIENCE #1-16 Review: Great quality, not sure what went wrong with previous reviewers copies. - Not sure what's wrong with the other reviewers books, must've been a bad printing batch. Mine is perfect, it is glue bound which is sometimes annoying when trying to read text that's close to the center margins of the book, but not tough or impossible. But this is an issue that most books this big have, it's not uncommon at all. I mean, this thing is issues 1-16 with sketches and design content! It's an absolute behemoth! And the production design is gorgeous as well. All of that aside, the story is great and action packed, the pacing rarely lets up. Highly recommended! Review: Five Stars - Would recommend this comic book series to anyone who loves a good dark science comic

I think it's great. Not sure what happened to the other people ...
This is more for the book build. I think it's great. Not sure what happened to the other people on here. I think it looks amazing. If it had a bookmark then it would be better. So far I can't understand much of the story. Most of the dialogue is in a different language. Quite strange so far. but the art is fantastic.

Remender doing what he does best.
I love this series and this format with extras is a worthy package for an amazing story.

Insane and pulse-pounding pulp science fiction that is Remender's best yet.
I'll be honest; I wasn't a fan of Rick Remender's work on CAPTAIN AMERICA at all when that title relaunched a few years ago. I didn't feel that sci-fi was the way to go with a character like that. I did like his run on SECRET AVENGERS for the most part, because that world lent itself much better to the more high-concept stuff was better suited with that title. But as with most creator-centric titles from Image, they tend to being out the best in their writers. And with artist Matteo Scalera, Remender brings us BLACK SCIENCE, this is easily the best stuff of his I've read. This massive and beautiful hardcover collection puts together the first 16 issues of this title, and it is stellar stuff. It's almost impossible to sum up what this title is all about, but if I were to try, it's about an anarcho-scientist named Grant McKay who has spent years bucking the establishment and creating a machine called The Pillar that can punch through dimensions. Through accident or happenstance or fate, The Pillar activates sending himself and a group of other scientists, among them is his bastard of a boss, his mistress, an idealistic follower, a badass soldier and his two children through to other extremely dangerous dimensions. People are lost, alternate versions of them appear, and newcomers join their journey to survive. And that's really all I'm going to say about it because to try to pick out specific moments would be too difficult to describe here, but needless to say, it's CRAZY. Scalera brings a surreality to the psychedelic and anarchic pulp style of Remender that really puts the book over the top. It's yet another example of perfect pairings of writer and artist that Image does so incredibly well, like Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples on SAGA, Greg Rucka and Michael Lark on LAZARUS, and Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips on... well... pretty much everything they've done together in the better part of the decade. Point being is that this collection of BLACK SCIENCE couldn't be more highly recommended. Image always does a beautiful job of putting together these collections and this is certainly no exception.

Wait For Another Edition...
I can't believe that and of the pages in this book look at if they have gotten wet... Seriously that is inexcusable. And yes, the binding is glued, which means that the book won't open all the way. I'm thoroughly disappointed in Image, and I'm going to think twice when buying other books in the future from them. The art and story itself are really interesting and unique, but the build quality is garbage. I'm going to go ahead and process a return.

I like Fear Agent but I am not a big fan of this series. There is just something missing to me as I am not connected to any of the characters. You either like the art or you don't and I am on the side of not liking the art. It is too busy and rushed and many time I would have to stare at the panels to try and figure out what was supposed to be happening (and still couldn't). I bought it because of the Remender name but I will not be continuing the series. Anyone want to buy a used copy?

A True Luxury Item For Book Lovers
This beautiful hardcover collects issues 1-16 of the Black Science comic book series. You may remember I reviewed a collected edition of Black Science encompassing issues 1-6 back in 2014. At the time, I loved the art, I loved the concept, I loved the colors, I just didn’t love the characters – I never felt connected or invested. If you’re unfamiliar with the book, rogue scientist and terrible father Grant McKay creates a machine called “The Pillar” which allows travel between planes of reality. The machine activates unexpectedly, though, and Grant, his team, his two children, and two corporate malcontents are taken on an unexpected, and possibly fatal, trip through realities. I do have to say that this edition, which I got for free through Amazon Vine, included 10 more issues than I’d read before. I must admit that it introduces an entirely new concept, one that is absolutely riveting. Somewhere between issues 6 and 16, Remender moves beyond simple interdimensional travel and delves into string theory, parallel dimensions, and even multiple versions of people destined to repeat cycle after cycle. It adds a layer of depth to both the story and characters that I didn’t pick up on in the first 6 issues. The book itself is gorgeously produced. It’s over-sized which amplifies the already magnificent art. It’s got great weight, and the hardcovers are solid and resilient. The back of the book includes alternate covers from the single issues, sketches and designs, and actual scripts. With a $49.99 cover price, I imagine you’ll need to be a huge fan of the book or the creators to purchase on your own. However, this could make a great gift for the serious comic book fan in your life or the science fiction aficionado. It will definitely be considered an appreciated luxury item by book lovers.

Material fantástico
Uma das melhores edições de quadrinhos que já vi. A história é sensacional e a qualidade desse material é superior há muitas edições do mercado.

Gran obra. Mala entrega.

Great book
It seems they fixed the binding problem from earlier collections. Rarely does art get lost in the middle crease where the pages are bound to the spine. The story starts off compelling and I ended up reading the whole thing in about two sittings.

The best Sci Fi in printed media
The best way to read Black Science I'm a fan of a good action packed adventure and that is definitely what you get with Black Science. This hardcover collects tons of the ongoing series and showcases Mateo Scalers and Dean White's amazing talents for art. I cannot recommend this enough.
