its the only food we feed our koi. we acquired our pond when we bought our house and used the food they left and the fish wouldn't touch the stuff. after doing some research i found that the hikari wheat germ or gold was probably going to be the best option for our fish and they absolutely beg for it. I've noticed increased color, better attitude, great growth and overall better pond health due to less waste in the pond (the fish eat more of the food and digest it more completely leaving less for micro organisms like parasites to thrive on from what i understand). the eat ability is perfect for our tosai all the way up to our biggest koi. the food smells neutral but healthy and stores well in a sealed bucket for long periods which is great for my wallet and the more we can afford the more the koi can eat well so its a win win for us. do yourself and your fish a favor and at least give it a try if you are having trouble getting your koi to eat regularly or display healthy slime coats it has seemed to make all the difference for us and our fish.

Have used Hikari 20+ years in 120 gallon outdoor water feature with Sarasa Comets. (With 24/7 filtration plus UV sterilizer.) In this contained environment Comets grow up to 8". Some are 18+ years old. And they spawn regularly… Comets will eat most everything: mosquitoes, bugs, earth worms, shredded meat, veggies. Including their own progeny. Unless they're born black, which against the black plastic liner makes newbie’s virtually invisible. Survivors learn to hide/over-winter. In spring they start getting their own coloration and join the rest of the clan. We attribute the success we’ve had, by relying exclusively on Hikari Gold as their daily feed, along with a variety of natural stuff we know they like.

Our fish seem to love Hikari. We think it’s a quality product but kind of expensive. Good fish food. Our fish looks forward to daily feeding when appropriate.

When I had fishes way back then I always use this product. This brand has good nutritions for the fish and has always been a good product to use. Always will buy this again!

I have a koi pond and this food fulfills their needs. So important for the health of the pond.

Happy fish have defenitly noticed them looking noticeably better! Dont store out doors, I lerned the hard way other critters enjoy this stuff too as they have tore the bag to bits!

It’s a great product. I have been using it for a number of years and have big healthy Koi. Also use Hakari Wheat Germ for cooler months.

I like to treat my fish to this and I believe they look better for it. I find it makes feeding more interesting to watch when using a selection of foods during the summer months. Highly recommended from a koi keeper with 40 years experience.
