Are the mats safe for my pets?

Yes. Our 1-inch spikes have blunt tips to provide a humane, tactile deterrent. They create a prickly sensation—like walking on pebbles—to discourage pets without risk of skin puncture or injury to local wildlife.

Will this work for my cats?

Works for ~85% of cats. Results vary by individual — cats with larger paws spread weight across more spikes (less pressure per point), and bolder cats have higher discomfort tolerance. Full, gap-free coverage improves results significantly.

Will this only work for cats?

No — also deters dogs, squirrels, and rabbits. As a training aid, consistent use helps any animal learn to avoid the area permanently. Place mats with full coverage and no gaps for best results across all species.

What is the recommended way to use the mat?

Place spikes facing up and use the provided stickers on the flat side to prevent shifting. Ensure the entire area is covered so pets cannot find a "gap" or a safe spot to place their paws. Intent is to make it uncomfortable and break habits.

Can these be used in direct sunlight?

Our durable PE mats are for outdoor use, but prolonged exposure to intense sunlight may cause thermal distortion. To keep them flat, we recommend securing them firmly or using them in partially shaded areas.
