Great item does exactly what you read about them.Shame that in Bulgaria MTel our 3G provider blocks the use of their SIM cards in other devises until your contract expires. So be aware this may happen else where abroad.Not the fault of the device though, this works well and easy to set up.

These little Huawei mi-fi units are actually very good, but I've had to mark this purchase down to 3 stars because the unit I received (from a 3rd party seller, not Amazon directly) isn't entirely as shown. The factory unlocked versions of these units only have the Huawei name on the front and no other branding. The one I received was actually a 3 branded unit, and the internal software was also showing it was the 3 version. This means the unit was originally locked to 3, but somebody has subsequently unlocked it. That means the unit isn't strictly new. The battery supplied wasn't in its own bag and the USB cable wasn't correct at all. I've had these Huawei units before and the cable is always a very short beige coloured cable. The one I got was a long black one in a plastic bag. The box carries no 3 branding, so it looks like they've been re-boxed too.Being an originally 3 locked unit it wanted to connect to 3 by default, but I had an EE SIM for it. Luckily, I've set these Huawei units up before for different networks so it wasn't too bad, but anyone not familiar with APN settings and such like may struggle. It seems to think EE is Virgin so it will actually say Virgin on the connect screen even though it's connected to EE.If you want a completely factory unlocked unit, rather than a branded/locked then unlocked later unit, you would probably be best buying directly from Amazon.

I take my hat off to all buyers who found the E5220 easy to set up and use. I did not! After strengthening the password, as recommended, I never got it to work again, despite re-setting to factory defaults, via the two methods available. I suspect the instructions were written by a Chinese computer expert and then translated into English. Instructions should be written logically in plain English for simple souls like me. Disappointed as it would have been useful.

This is a very handy bit of kit. It has a good range and is easy to set up. Prices do vary, but at the time of purchase I found it was cheaper to buy this unit from Amazon and then buy the sim card from one of the mobile phone providers than buy the MIFI plus sim card together.

Very easy to use and completely portable - ours has been proven to be an excellent all-rounder in Egypt.

Works fine in the U.K. !!! Taking it to Egypt in June so I’ll see how it works there !!! So far excellent value !!!!

Fünf Sterne für das gesamte handliche WLAN Router System für Internet mit Mobilfunk. War mir nicht wirklich sicher ob ein Mobilfunk-Internet mit einem so kleinen Mini-Router einen Festnetzanschluss ersetzen kann. Wollte es auf einen Versuch ankommen lassen. Hatte vorübergehend bis der Huawei E5220 angekommen ist die SIM Karte im Handy und dieses als Hotspot genutzt. Dabei kamen doch einige Zweifel auf ob dies das richtige System werden könnte. War doch sehr langsam (max. 3 Mbit/s Download bei bis zu 10 Mbit/s Angabe des Mobilfunkbetreibers). Hatte gehofft, dass mein Handy Hotspot der Flaschenhals war und über den Huawei E5220 die Verbindung doch deutlich schneller wird. Was sich dann auch bestätigt hatte. Meine Downloadgeschwindigkeit bewegt sich nun zwischen 12 Mbit/s und 6 Mbit/s. Mobilfunk ist offensichtlich doch viel größeren Schwankungen als das Festnetz ausgesetzt, je nach Auslastung. Mit dem sehr handlichen und mobilen Huawei E5220 Wifi kann man sich also unterwegs und auch Zuhause (je nach Wohngegend) einen ausreichenden Internetzugang verschaffen.Zum Gerät selbst: Dem Huawei E5220 würde ich 4 Sterne geben. Meines ist weiß und es gefällt mir optisch außerordentlich gut. Mich faszinieren dieses kleine niedliche Gerät und seine Leistung. Von der Reichweite ist es sogar um eine Spur besser als mein zuvor stationärer Router TP-Link TL-WR741. Geschätzte Reichweite 10-15 Meter mit zwei Trennwänden dazwischen. Wobei die Übertragungsrate bei den letzen 2 Metern stark abfällt. Im Akkubetrieb hält der kleine ca. 5 Std. durch. Wobei ich hauptsächlich das Gerät für den Dauerbetrieb an ein Handy Ladegerät mit Mini USB angesteckt habe. Beim mitgelieferten Ladegerät ist mir das Kabel viel zu kurz und zu bockig. Außerdem stört das ständige leichte Surren des original Ladeteils.Beim Ein- und Ausschalten finde ich die Anzeige etwas irritierend. Lichter gehen kurz nach drücken der Taste aus, dann wieder an und im Falle des Ausschaltens wieder aus. Dabei hat man manchmal das Gefühl, das Gerät hätte noch nicht auf den Tastendruck reagiert. Seltsam ist auch, dass bei Akkubetrieb nur das Batteriesymbol blinkt und alle anderen Anzeigen aus sind. Da dieses Symbol auch beim Ladevorgang blinkt, kann dies schon Anfangs zur Verwirrung beitragen. Gerne hätte ich bei einem SMS Eingang ein akustisches Signal zum Briefsymbol zusätzlich dazu gehabt.Die Beschreibung ist etwas dürftig und man muß sich einiges dabei zusammenreimen. Plug and Play war bei mir auch nicht. Hat ca. eine halbe Std. gedauert bis ich das Gerät nutzen konnte. Hierbei war die Rücksetzung auf Werkseinstellung sehr hilfreich. Lag aber auch event. daran, dass das Gerät nicht mehr im original Zustand war. Geräteeinstellungen (die großteils aber nicht nötig sind) über eine eigene Huawei Seite vorzunehmen war für mich auch etwas ungewöhnlich und trotz weniger Einstellmöglichkeiten zum Teil nicht ganz klar verständlich. Datenübertragungs- Einstellung hat sich aus unerklärlicher Weise nach einigen Betriebstagen auf der besagten Seite verstellt und hat mich ca. 1,5 Std gekostet, das Verbindungsproblem damit zu Identifizieren und die veränderte Einstellung zu finden. Die vorgesehene Huawei-Seite ist auch informativ und eventuell nutzbar. Hier findet man den Datenvolumen Verbrauch (wäre für nicht Flat Tarife eine Volumensbegrenzung ganz nett gewesen); die Anzahl der aktuell verbundenen Geräte, deren Bezeichnung und ihre Verweilzeit; SMS Empfangs- und Sendefunktion.Fazit: Total neues Internet-Gefühl!! Damit ist für mich kein Festnetzanschluss mehr nötig und Zuhause wie auch unterwegs das Internet ausgezeichnet nutzbar. Auch wenn aus meiner Sicht beim Huawei E5220 das eine oder andere nicht perfektioniert wurde. Aber was ist schon perfekt?P.S. Nach einem Jahr Nutzung fällt mir auf, dass sich das Gerät etwas öfter aufhängt als zu Beginn. Keine Ahnung ob dies viele WLAN's haben. Hatte das jedenfalls auch zuvor bei meinen TP-Link Router. Hier gilt wie dazumal, für mindestens 10 Sekunden ausschalten.

Il router arrivato in un'ottimo imballo ha funzionato con una rapidità sorprendente.Facile da configurare seguendo le istruzioni in inglese, ha identificato il provaider in autoconfigurazione con un segnale non particolarmente intenso. Unico piccolo neo l'indicatore di segnale che cambia completamente colore se la ricezione è difficoltosa e non si ha una informazione completa. il flusso di dati ai vari gadget collegati è stabile entro un raggio più che accettabile (in un appartamento di circa 90 mq copre la maggior parte delle stanze).Ottimo prodotto
