Well written and illustrated. Great information. My kids actually read this book on their own without me having to suggest. My oldest loves former president Barack Obama. Its great quality book. I would suggest this

No matter what discrimination or difficulty on their road, the book tells us the story of how they turned difficulties on their road into challenges, how they didn't give up and reached their dream. Some of the men and women are known, from many I hadn't heard before.It is so important to have role models in life. L. A. Amber offers possible examples to fill in those role models. These 50 people showing 50 awesome examples of the power everyone has in him or herself. Beside that, the author ended every story with a personal note to the reader. "Did you know that...? Have you ever felt rejected? Keep dreaming big dreams. Are you patient with others? Do you ever feel like giving up? Do you learn from your mistakes? What do you dream of doing to change the world? Each of us has a special mission or purpose, you matter, you are important, don't ever forget that..."The combination of the stories together with those personal questions to the readers (it is a children's book, but it speaks to adults as well) make this book extra-ordinary. It is fun to read, one can learn from it. It also is a sort of self-help book because the right questions are asked in every of the 50 stories. I am sure this is a book that will enlarge the self esteem of many children (and again, I think of BIG children as well). It is an important book for every black girl and boy, parent friend and teacher. It is important for everyone of every skin color.This is a book that, if I could, I would give 6 stars.

My five year old and I have really enjoyed this book so far. However, the wording in the dedication at the front I thought was a little negative. It's dedicated to everyone who has ever been told they couldn't make it and had their dreams crushed or something like that. Which is fine. And as a person who has, I appreciate that. I just prefer things to be worded in the affirmative in stories designed for kids. After all, even kids who have never had their dreams crushed outright need positive role models and uplifting messages. And you don't have to have had that happen to you to find inspiration in the stories. I thought it was a really dark note on which to start out such a positive collection of success stories.

Lovely graphics & insightful revelations on important people from around the world, especially knowing how generous bob marley was. As a storyteller and nana, i will enjoy retelling and reading to others. Excellent!

I'm glad that this book features the stories of so many black history makers we don't often hear about instead of the same old famous figures. I had never heard of some of them like Mark Dean, Christopher Gardner, Leanna Archer who made (like the title says) amazing contributions to the world .... I'm getting another copy of this book as a gift for my grandchild. I got the Kindle version - but I'm getting the hard copy too because the colorful illustrations make this book really beautiful. It'd be a great gift or coffee table book as well.

These are very short and to-the-point stories that also have questions and quotes that will get the little minds in your life thinking. I bought this for my 6 yo nephew and he loves it!

I love the appeal of this book. I don't understand why Nikki Minaj is featured as a "black hero" but whatever lol

Love the different stories of black people and how they changed the world.

This book could of been better if it woul of stuck to real black history icons. I wouldn’t class the likes of Nicki minaj and Beyoncé as historical icons nooooo! Even my 8yr old son pointed that out. Very disappointed. Had I known this would never of purchased this book “what a shame”. And also overpriced £20 is a bit pricey for what it is. :(

The item arrived well in time and was packaged excellently. Good value for money quality. I will buy from buyer again in the future.

So many inaccuracies and spelling mistakes it is hard to be live it is fact. Careful if you are buying this
