A vac, a vac, not an evac but an awesome sucking machine!
I cant fault this vac yet. We have a Gtech airram, which is ok for quick use, but wanted a decent vac to replace our Shark (dont buy them! Ours lasted 6 mths useless!)We tried dyson, but have to say, this vac literally sucks the floorboards up! Hyper hyper suction, was really shocked and impressed! On all our carpets, it was cleaning and pulling dirt and dust out which the gtech had been unable to do. Pet hair is no problem, its gone!Ok, so its a little louder than the gtech (ok, a fair bit louder) but then a ferrari is much louder than a Toyota Prius. What do you want? A hoover that sucks as hard as a nimrod class nuclear powered sub, or a vac that barely sucks the skin off a rice pudding? Personally, i want to vac once and know ive got the dirt and dust up.Its also not an ugly 1950 looking lump of plastic either. Ok so i know that visually its not the most important aspect of purchasing a vac, but lets face it, when your mother in law pops round (as they always seem to do when least expected!) the last thing you want to add to the ever increasing dissapointments you seem to be, is the hideous look of your hoover. This one saves your bacon, and probably the earbashing on a sunday dinner at their gaff about the choices of your household implements. Its a stylish and good looking machine, and does have traits of the Dyson look about it, guess thats the cyclone technology inherant it all of them nowadays.I guess the downside of that is the head is a little harder to move around, due to it trying to suck its way into the earths core! But again, id rather put a little effort in and have a clean floor. So probably not the hoover for the supermodel types, as it will break your flimsy bones trying to push the head around, and then probably suck your whispy paperlike body up into its awesome cyclonic goodlooking cylinder!I think the only thing that would make this vac better is if it were delivered by Scarlet Johanssen and she offered to stay for a week and clean for me!

Wouldn't buy again
It worked well the first time then lost suction due to the top filter starting to clog. This filter should be rinsed and left to dry (says for 24hrs) after each use, that's very inconvenient and it's wearing out quickly so that's a significant ongoing expense. It's like unpacking Russian dolls to empty the dust out with all the bits to take apart each time. The suction was very powerful at first and easily reduced with a 'slider' on the handle which needs closing as you go along because it catches and opens when you don't want it to. The handle rotates out of line when used and needs twisting back regularly. The clip on the metal part of the hose, for adjusting the length, broke off. I bought a larger rotary brush from VAX but it needed an adaptor to fit which I then had to tape on to stop it coming off when used. All the tools just push on, with no retaining clip or button, so either get stuck and are hard to change or fall off when using the vacuum. The bristles on the brush have worn quickly and don't pick up so well anymore. The hoses are very difficult to get on/off and change over, it's not worth the effort really. The stretch hose makes an awful and very loud noise. When the suction is good, and using the small rotary brush, it does pick up cat hair better than my Dyson but it takes a lot of effort to get the brush to make good contact with the carpet and it's a small size brush so it takes a lot of time and energy to cover a room. Would I buy it again? No! But are there better alternatives? Given the cost, it's a preferable buy compared to my old Dyson. It is light weight compared to most vacuumes of this style and the smaller capacity wasn't a problem for me.

Very satisfied
Very happy with this product, after having owned it for more than 3 months. Some people were complaining about being too powerful and difficult to move around which is true if you don't use the air bypass slider on the handle. The aluminium hose extension is very sturdy and well-built. I find it a very good value-for-money product and would definitely recommend it. Its extras are quite useful too.

Don't bother- invest in something better.
Initially seemed good- easy to use, strong suction. However after a few months it began to lose sucking power. Filters aren't easy to clean, and effect doesn't last. Flimsy plastic construction means it is easily damaged. Never again Vax.
