Done with soundbars that feel so empty no punch can’t fill up a large room. So decided to combine my Hi-FI system with my TV. Tried a Sony 5.1 AVR and TV sounded great music horrible was once again thin. Was looking at higher end AVR all like 11.1 or more and I had no need didn’t want surround sound just Stereo and ran into this Marantz a brand I know well and wow it’s awesome sound for TV is great dialogue is clear and doesn’t squish everything else. For music dream great separation good sound stage and clarity. The Marantz warmth is all hear and matches well with my Klipsch RP-500m who have little brightness naturally and the warmth of the Marantz balances them out wonderfully more than enough power to drive them. Connectivity is awesome with HDMI E-ARC Coaxial for my CD player and Apple AirPlay and now Spotify has lossless playback use the HEOS app to connect Spotify and enjoy lossless music. more then enough for your listening pleasure. Has two sub out but I only use one and it’s great. If Stereo is all you need this is the one for you. Also the one in all these reviews is not the Stereo’s 70’s it’s an older model I included a picture of the AVR.

Its rare these days that manufacturers focus on an AV receiver that only supports 2ch audio. Thank goodness Marantz heard the call. To be honest my surround sound days are past me, and the bulk of my listening is music. So this receiver checks all the boxes. I don't have to buy a surround receiver and waste money on 3 or 5 additional amplifiers that I will never use. Instead that money is refocused into providing higher quality amplifiers for the 2ch I need. I upgraded to the Stereo 70s from an NR1200 and I have to say the more time I've spent with the Stereo 70s the more impressed I am at the difference in sound quality. Its not really noticeable at first, but in various scenarios the Stereo 70s really shines in both music reproduction and and AV content. Gone are the days of filtering for 2ch. Just set your source to 5.1 and let the Stereo 70s do the rest. In terms of video, I'm happy that I am future proofing my system for probably the next 10 years. with 8K support, which I have no idea when I will even upgrade to an 8k Television, this won't see obsolescence for a long time to come. However the best update is the menu system. Gone are the dreaded 8bit on screen menus and in are the beautifully designed menu system of the Stereo 70s. Honestly for me I hesitated purchasing until I knew for certain that I wasn't going to fumbling around in those ugly outdated menu displays. Really happy with this purchase, in every aspect this unit is a sight and sound to behold! You will not regret your decision to buy.

I have a few vintage Marantz recievers and was a bit nervous about spending this much on a modern one but was so pleasantly surprised by how good it sounds! The modern features cover so much and yet all sound really great! The 1 thing I would've liked more is if the phono preamp had just a bit more gain...when selecting the phono input there's a noticeable drop in volume, but there's a volume knob and a good remote so it's minor. Otherwise I'm very happy with it!

I purchased the Marantz Stereo 70s to replace a Marantz SR5015 that I mainly used to drive a pair of Polk Reserve R200 bookshelf speakers. The Stereo 70s bought the polk speakers to life. They possess a sound quality that was not brought out by the SR5015. The difference is night and day. I was actually thinking about replacing the speakers before I purchased the Stereo 70s. I am no longer considering that route.

This product and the purchase through Amazon was unbelievably bad. Amazon sold this product and advertised that you can use HEOS. Marantz and Amazon boost that this unit has a HEOS platform, built in, which allows you to listen to your favorite music directly from the internet (LAN, hard wired) with no intermediate equipment. It should be noted that you cannot listen wirelessly either. HEOS is just not available with this product. I contacted Marantz regarding this issue. They advised that their HEOS platform (which Amazon advertises for this product) is no longer supported and that they have no plans to correct this problem, which means you cannot use this product for the way it was intended and advertised. I was so taken back, I had to ask them again. Before purchasing any Marantz AV contact Amazon because they are advertising that this product comes with HEOS. It should also be noted that HEOS was not available prior to the purchase. What does this mean (?): Marantz’s only solution is you use your phone’s blue tooth. For many reasons this is ridiculous. What happens if you are listening to music with friends and your phone rings or your phone runs out of battery. Also, the transfer rate of the file is not the same. If you are listening to lower-end equipment (or your car) the difference may not be noticed at all, but if you have a higher-end system or intend to purchase one, this is unacceptable. Music is mostly about streaming. Streaming from Amazon Music Unlimited, Apple Music, Deezer, Qobuz, Plexamp, Spotify HiFi, and Tidal (which have higher resolution than CDs) this is truly unacceptable. To be fair this amp was out of the normal return period when I realized the advertisement was wrong. To be fair again, I looked for any damage and turned it on, but no reasonable individual would think to look and check firmware. (streaming as a stand-alone product) would be incorrect. The problem is not conspicuous. Amazon understands their mistake but is hiding behind their return policy which was only 9 days out of the return period. As a recap Amazon’s description of the product was incorrect. Amazon is responsible for their advertisement claims on products they sell. The product cannot perform as claimed. The product’s firmware was not operational at the time of purchase. The problem was not conspicuous. No reasonable person would check firmware. The product cannot be updated because there are no plans to do so. Do to this the return period should be extended. I contacted Amazon regarding this issue with no response. Am I out over $1000.00 Thanks, Amason.

This is a very flexible product . Easy to install . Works as expected and that is not often the case with electronics .

Firstly, I love this marantz unit. The Marantz Stereo 70s looks and sounds fantastic. However, all my excitement diminished when I went to the Marantz website to register for the excellent 5 year warranty. They told me my purchase was not from an authorized dealer so I did not qualify for the warranty?? After much consultation with Amazon support, I was told to call Asurion and sign up for a warranty package. An additional charge on top of my expensive purchase. Unexceptable! This does not happen when you purchase from an authorized Marantz dealership. Angry.
