Strip fine wires for electronics quickly and easily
Just started doing some hobby electronics, and needing some connectors for some recycled components. After struggling with existing strippers just to do a bad job very very slowly, I searched and found these. Within 5 minutes of the strippers being delivered, I started a 13-pin ribbon cable I had given up on yesterday. Within a minute of starting, I had finished, and it was a very clean job. My old strippers just aren't designed for the thin wires you get in electronics - the smallest they can handle are 1mm and 0.75mm, and they tend to stretch the insulation rather than cutting it. With these new ones, options are 0.4, 0.5, 0.65 (the size I needed today), 0.8, 0.95, 1.15 and 1.45. I like the spring so the strippers open themselves ready for the next wire, and the lock to keep them closed in a toolbox, which I guess protects them from getting damaged by other tools. But mostly I liked that they stripped insulation off fairly thin wires quickly and easily, and without damaging the wire itself. I wasn't quite sure about giving 5 stars for value for money considering the price, but they're worth it.

Buy this if you need a quality wire stripper
Fantastic brand i love everything i have bought from them and this is no different brilliant value for money because of the excellent quality. Not the most complex of things but i fine that with this design there is just less to go wrong.

Best tool in my toolbox
I'm so impressed with the build quality and design of this wire stripper and cutter. Everything about it is good: the feel, handles, the blade, the size of the holes, the labelling. The first wire strip today was a dream - the 2-core wire beautifully cut the casing off, no nicks on the wire, super smooth, with no dragging. A beautiful tool, well worth the money. I've spent a lot more on tools that have turned out to be rubbish. The longetivity is the only aspect I can't be sure about yet, but I'm very confident it will last.

Fantastic!!
What a really fantastic piece of kit this is. I've just taken delivery of it and had a go at stripping both thin 22AWG and 22AWG and what can I say,..absolutely effortless, beautiful clean strip every time. They are great to hold in that it's very comfortable in your hand. I may even consider buying a second pair just for backup in case I ever lose this one. It's made in Japan and let's face it, we all know that almost everything and anything that's made in Japan oodles quality and these wire strippers is the pair to get. Just look at all the top 5 Star reviews which proves how good they are. I am another adding to that top 5 Star review.

Outstanding
I do a lot of precision audio work with fine wires, I have a lot of very nice tools from all the major brands, and this stripper is absolutely top-tier up there with the best.The blades are cut with extraordinary precision. Round where the sheathing will be cut through, but flat and angled on the approach, which creates a smooth, low-friction cut with easy alignment of hair-thin wires. One side of the jaws has just a hint of bevel which allows them to close perfectly every time then firm up as you complete your squeeze.The handles look uncomfortable, but are actually not at all so and I'm happy to use them for long periods of time even though I have massive hands. They are made of a moulded hard rubber of some sort. As most pros will agree, this style is easier to clean crud off and generally provides a much longer lifespan than fancy soft or two-part mouldings anyway, so I prefer it.My main use of these to strip 1.6mm coaxial audio cable with a 0.5mm centre core and they work flawlessly for that. Well worth the money. This is the first time I have ever used this Japanese brand and if their other products are of similar quality I expect I'll be acquiring more of them in future.

Very good wire cutters but with reservations
These wire cutters are comfortable to use and are very good for pvc or silicone covered wire. However I had less success with some old Teflon wire I had, leaving a sliver of insulation which needed nipping off. My new Alpha wire stripped successfully however.

Professionelle Abisolierzange für 0.08mm² ++

Never thought I'd fall in love with a stripper...
The precision and quality of Engineer tools is just impeccable and they often have small innovative/thoughtful features. I've seen a few of their pliers and nippers and all were top notch, comparable in every way to the most esteemed tools from USA, Germany, and Sweden. I've used a lot of different strippers and thought I had some of the best, but wow, these are just buttery goodness like I didn't know was possible. The gauge markings on this one are for stranded, so keep that in mind. It doesn't list solid conductors on the tool and the metric markings are the actual hole diameter (not wire diameter)...the back side is unmarked. Nice light spring action, which is so much better than stronger springs, and the hinge adjustment is excellent. Mine came perfect out of the box but if you need to adjust it for preference or precision down the road, be sure to do it properly (instructions available on their website). Grips are comfortable and soft with some tack/grip, little funky design. The locking tab has play in it but doesn't move unless you tell it to, works great. This is the first stripper I've owned that had absolutely no need for removal of micro burrs or touch-ups of the cutting surfaces, very well done. The tips do not have serrations and do not line up perfectly parallel/square, which is weird, but I don't know if there is some reason for that. One of the best things about this particular model is that it covers a great range that allows you do strip finer sizes but still goes down to some sizes that are more typical in larger circuits and power supplies, plus it's compact compared to some. This will be a do-all tool for me about 95% of the time and I won't miss needing two strippers within reach. I'm not sure why Engineer tools aren't more popular than they are because they are just fantastic quality. More known for their niche screw removal pliers, I guess, and those have shifted into the "Vam-plier" marketing name lately. I'd put these and the Engineer nippers on par with anything I've seen from Knipex, Wiha, Wera, Wiss/Cooper Group, etc. and they're absolutely a step or two above Xuron, GB, Klein, Greenlee, etc...way better than the normal CHP/Hakko stuff. Worth a slot on your bench or box.
