Xperia Play Dock - A perfect accessory?
I purchased the Xperia Play Dock directly from Amazon - A great price and a fantastic desktop accessory for the Xperia Play.I love my Xperia Play, and the dock, officially offered from Sony Erricson works very well indeed. The phone is docked sideways, and the display on the phone immediately changes to display Digital Clock, Day and Date, Weather graphic with local temperature, battery charging status with current % of battery charge, and bottom menu bar - consisting on four options, alarms, media, music and android home menu.Notification bar remains at the top and depending on your notifications will depend on what will be displayed when top menu is pulled down, such as text messaging, calls, app status etc.The dock comes with a standard USB type cable and 13Amp plug. You can either plug the dock into your PC or into a 13Amp socket. The display can and will time out (depending on settings) and displays a dimmed digital clock, which changes position every 20 - 30 seconds as a normal screen saver would. You can access menus very well on the phone, when wanting to listen to some music, simply touch the music menu, which brings up a nice sideways music player press play and let the stero speakers on the phone do their thing (no speakers on the dock!)One of the fantastic features i use a lot, is the picture slideshow. I select media - pictures and then slideshow - The phone then acts like a digital photo frame and scrolls randomly (depending on settings) through your digital picture media. It can be used as an alarm clock, simply dock by your bed, and bang time dimly scrolls on the screen until it's time to get up!Quite simply for the money, i would say this is a vital piece of kit to compliment the Xperia Play, being docked on it's side gives massive functionality, something that my iphone 3gs could not give me.

Essential for Xperia Play owners!!!
I would say this is a must have accessory for the Xperia Play. For three reasons.1. Lets you use it as a bedside alarm clock.2. Lets you mount the phone in a steady landscape position for watching video3. Easily the safest way to charge this model phone.Nothing complicated here. Dock your phone and it detects its in the dock and starts the clock app in landscape aspect automatically. From the clock interface you can access music, slideshow for pics, alarms and Home. When phone screen hibernates, a green low light level digital clock with time and date is displayed as a screen saver. As any Xperia Play owner will testify. We love our fones and are keen to look after them. But this is hard. It's painful plugging a mains charger straight in and just leaving the phone lying on its nice glossy back to charge. Before I got this dock I was constantly looking around for a bit of cloth or something soft to rest the fone on.And god knows this fone needs charging a lot so its nice to have a safe way to do it.My favourite use for the dock tho is for watching video. As the Xperia play, with the help of a good app, will play just about any quality video file, including HD .mkv files, I use my fone a lot to watch downloaded videos, iPlayer content etc.Using the dock means I can securely position the phone somewhere near me and watch video without having to hold the phone in my hand. Watched two full episodes of Top Gear while in the bath last night thanks to this little puppy. Nice. Not had a chance to connect the audio output to anything yet, and to be honest probably never will, but I'm sure this would be a nice feature for all you iPod dock fans out there.Reading the only other review here, it looks like dock was supplied with mains charger and USB cable, but mine only came with a mains charger.Luckily, now all fones virtually use the same micro-usb cable I had a bunch of them lying around from other fones. So no big deal.Would like to see the price come down as I would like to have a few of these to leave around home and work office. It's a nice looking item but essentially it is really simple and can't help feel that a good part of the price is there purely because this is an official Sony Ericsson product.Still, better priced on here than in the high street. Expect to pay at least £10 more in the shops. So in summary, great item. Does what it says on the tin and looks good while doing it. Bit high in price for something so essential (and simple) but definately glad I got one.Might even buy a couple more if I'm feeling flush.

not for me
when i received this it looked, felt cheap, nasty and tacky - not what i would expect from sony - kept it as sound not too bad (plus have got rid of stereo)

Easily broke.
It did well, charing and using the features provided - but after a while of using it the audio plug broke up and was left in my phone! later that day at school I dropped it, and the piece left in feel out like water.

Great little thing
I am really pleased I chose to buy this docking station. I like to see the weather forecast on my phone in the morning when my alarm wakes me up...helps me to choose which clothes to wear. As my Sony Ericsson already has decent speakers built in I wasn't bothered about the dock not having any, but lets face, there are plenty of speakers on the market that will connect to the output on the dock so all is well. I couldn't believe how little I paid for it too. Can't complain at all. Thanks a lot.

Best addition to a phone I've ever had
Best addition to a phone I've ever had, turns it into a bedside clock. With my new phone I just have a wire and have to pick it up and look at it to see what time it is, which is depressing. I miss 2013 when times were simpler.
