Great Option for Little Ones
We were hesitant to introduce video games to our 4 year old, but I must say this is a great alternative to the traditional video game options. The games focus on fundamentals (letters, numbers, etc.) He has been able to navigate the majority of the games on his own which is great. The quality of the product is excellent for the price point. Easy buttons to maneuver and the size is perfect for younger kids. We do limit the amount of time he gets on it and it seems to be going well. Very happy with the purchase. Leap Frog did not disappoint.

Love it
My son loves this game, it’s easy for him to use ! It’s had alot of games honestly so it’s fair priced and I don’t think the price is bad! It has a lot of educational and motor skill games and games for all age ranges. The screen is perfect size with the ability to rotate which I think is nice

Intuitive enough for a 5-year old with basic English skills.
Before I gifted this to my son, I set up the unit to test for myself. I was initially concerned it would not hold his attention for very long, but am pleased to report that he is very satisfied.I have tried my best to keep my son away from smart phones, video games, and digital tablets as I wanted him to build the necessary basic motor skills before introducing him to something like this device. You can’t keep them completely away from them this generation, unfortunately.Of course, his first gut instinct was to tap the screen, immediately when the first series of prompts came up. As he used the Leapster, he began asking questions about the words and terminologies used in each of the games, prompting conversation between parent and child… not to mention a lot of laughter. These interactions are all invaluable for a parent. As for the software, the games are all intuitive enough for young children to quickly grasp. My son was able to follow the instructions without my guidance and navigate through the games all on his own. The only issue with this is introducing your child to a potentially addictive source of entertainment, which I have quickly decided to set rules around (30-minutes a day, only after homework is finished). As for the unit, the unique controls were intuitive enough for him to pick up quickly. It also has a bright, colorful, and rotatable LCD screen, which is also impressive. I believe this product is a good kick-start to engage children with digital products.Overall, I am pleased with the product and would recommend it to others with children.

It’s durable
My 2 yr old drops this all the time and it’s still works. The games are fun my biggest issue is that it requires batteries so they die often.

Doesn't work well. UPDATE - stopped working in less than 6 months
Update January 2025This stopped turning on sometime between November/December and we thought it was our batteries (rechargeable). So I charged them and that didn't work. Bought brand name regular batteries a week or so later and those didn't work either! My husband took apart the controller after the holiday craziness had passed and couldn't see anything crossed, damaged, or out of place so whatever the problem is an issue from the manufacturer. Do NOT recommend.Original review July 2024Out of the box it wouldn't turn off and even with rechargeable batteries I need to unscrew the sides and pull out the batteries to make sure it lasts the day at summer camp (6yo gets electronic time after lunch). If I hadn't gone past my 30 day purchase timeframe I would have returned it the week we opened it.
