VQ Christie & Retro Mk II Digital Radio Rechargeable Battery Pack

ok I got this because Pure Radios stopped making the chargepak batteries for my radio.The rechargeable battery is the size of a size D battery.Not easy to use if you have mobility issues.The battery life is about a week compared to the chargepak batteries that lasts£ a month. I suspect compromise on size and look.UpdateOK I have discovered that if you turn the radio off at the back switch the battery life can be extended. So far a charge from last week has lasted through to today. That’s 8 days. I have also discovered that Amazon sells a shaver adapted forever the continent that has a 3 pin plug on it. I can use this to charge in the bathroom.

It charges up eventually, you really have to leave the radio plugged in all the time, or with it plugged in it will go flat, so both mains and battery for the radio

I cannot fault VQ for their battery packs. I recently received a Retro MKII and after having a Christie from VQ, I decided to get a battery pack for this one too. What I didn't realise (I probably didn't read the specs) was that this battery was for both the Christie and the Retro MKII so I could have just switched the battery out my kitchen one. However, it wasn't that expensive so I couldn't be bothered to send it back and decided that it warranted a battery pack of it's own anyway so we could take it out in the garden to use.To fit the battery pack in the Retro MKII is a little fiddly but I put the battery in with the logo upside down I think, with the lead on the right hand side, and then squished it into the space where the battery connects. This then makes it easy to close the battery compartment door. If you put the lead across the battery you can't shut the compartment.Worked straight out of the box without needing to charge it, but we have put the power lead to it to charge it while we use it today and then tomorrow it will be pure battery power.You always get quality from VQ and this is no exception. Love it.

We don't use the radio on battery power that much. BUT, after perhaps the 5th or 6th cycle, no matter how long it's left plugged in, the battery won't now charge. Spoke to the manufacturers a couple of days ago - took ages to answer! They want the battery back for 'testing' before they will even talk about a replacement and I'm now waiting for a return label to be posted to me (Why they can't email it is beyond me!) We'll see what happens, but looking at other feedback on here, I'm not hopeful. When it works the radio itself is fantastic (apart from the volume being far too high when it fires up meaning you need to have your finger on the volume control before the rest of the neighbourhood is woken up as well!)A perfectly good radio ruined by an overpriced battery which is almost impossible to fit within its designated space and connected with a stupidly flimsy connection - why couldn't they have used good old AA batteries? A perfect example of the design being far too clever for its own good. Will update this post when I get an answer from the 'battery testing' adventure!

Fitted perfect for my Christie radio. It was fiddly to fit in but works a treat once fitted. It lasts for days without charge and doesn’t take long to fully charge either. It’s well worth the price.

this battery is not compatible with the VQ Monty radio when this was bought the VQ Christie & Retro battery was advertise together lower down the page buy the 2 together but my friend bought the radio first then decided to buy the battery as shown after, so to me it was bad advertising as this battery does not fit the Monty radio that she bought the battery has now gone back just awaiting on the refund hence I should of read more into this that's why only gave only a 3 star

I adore this product, build quality is great and sound output just right with options to change basic equaliser settings. Some comments are valid, for example the home button on iPhone's are slightly covered whilst docked - but doesn't make me want to drop a star at all. I would also recommend purchasing the battery at the same time. Makes a huge difference to its usefulness. Packaging is lovely and it looks fantastic too!

it keeps cutting out after a few mins altho fully charged worked fine for a couple days thinking of sending it back
