So much fun!
This is a great product! My kids have loved watching the ants work, and every morning theyâre excited to check and see what excavation feats were accomplished overnight. Itâs a much more interesting design than the original-style ant farm my oldest son had several years back â the individual chambers and tunnels look great from the start, and watching how the ants choose where to put the sand as they move it around is fascinating. Our shipment of ants (separate order from a different vendor) arrived with a few dead ones, and as soon as the ants started their building projects, one of the first things they did was create a burial chamber and move the bodies there before sealing it up! Itâs been amazing to watch.Setup was easy as can be, although I did add a little piece of tape over each of the doors that need to stay closed. They swivel pretty easily, and I donât particularly want to share the rest of our house with the ants! Make sure you add the 50-60 ml water to the sand as directed â it allows the ants to tunnel and pack the sand without collapsing as I saw another reviewer mention. The one thing I would suggest for the design is adding stabilizing feet on the bottom that extend from the front and back. We have curious cats who enjoy watching the ants, too, and it doesnât take much of a cheek rub from them to knock the farm over when itâs only about an inch deep.Overall, I would definitely recommend this product.

LOOKS COOL!
The ants arenât in yet, but it looks really cool so far. Instructions were included but werenât necessary. This is something a preteen should be able to do by themselves.Just make sure you have all the little doors shut and holes plugged because there are a lot of potential ways for the ants to escape.Super excited to put the ants into their mansion tomorrow!Edited- deducted a star because of the sand⌠I donât know what I was thinking even putting the sand into the enclosure. Ants canât tunnel in sand! It just collapses immediately. They wonât even try. Theyâre just moving all their dirt around and keep avoiding the sand at all costs. I put quite a bit of dirt in there from their own colony from out in my yard. Theyâre doing absolutely nothing with the sand, rendering nearly half of the farm useless. Iâm going to empty the sand out of the other side, which will be a huge pain⌠and this other side will just have to deal with the sand, I guess.
