Works too good!
My 5m old doberman mix puppy loves this thing! It keeps him entertained for at least 15 minutes, and he really files his nails down to nubs. For that reason, I'm only going to bring it out once every few weeks. It definitely does its job! I bought extra filing pads so he shouldn't need his front paws clipped for a while. We skipped to the last step & he got the idea very quickly!I'm a vet tech & will recommend this product to clients with food-motivated dogs that are difficult for front nail trims. In my experience, the front nails are usually the trigger for dogs that don't like their nails trimmed. This would be amazing & not stress the dog out, which is always the number one priority!

Fantastic product
This scratch pad is designed to naturally file down nails as your dog plays, making it an easy and enjoyable way to maintain nail care at home. The durable, non-toxic material is gentle on paws but effective in reducing nail length over time. It also doubles as a fun toy, providing both entertainment and grooming benefits. Ideal for dogs that need regular nail maintenance but aren’t fond of clippers, this scratch board is a great addition to any pet care routine. Highly recommended for pet owners looking for a safe, convenient way to care for their dog’s nails.

Not for small breed dogs
Purchased this item for our 20 pound Maltese/Yorkie mix who hates to have her nails trimmed. This item is advertised to target nail filing and also as a puzzle feeder. Set up was quick and easy only taking a few seconds to assemble. Included an instruction manual that gave advice on how to walk your dog through the steps required to retrieve the food. Our dog caught on very quickly and was using independently within 24 hours. Works great as a feeder puzzle and mental stimulus for the dog, I would rate as a 5! However, there is some down sides to this feeder's use as a nail file. The coarse paper really does file down the nails but our dog only uses 1 of it's front paws to do so.... only 1 out of 4 paws gets trimmed. Also the nail files only on one side leaving her nails misshapen. (This is in no way the manufacturers fault). Where I would rate the product lower is with its quality. The suction cups do not stick to the floor so the dog pushes and shoves the feeder throughout the room during feedings. Also our 9 pound Yorkie attempted to use the feeder and his tiny nail got pinched in the trap door causing pain and now fear of the feeder. I would suggest a size recommendation with this product to not be used on small breed dogs and to improve the suction cups on the bottom.

Great concept but lacks in good, passable openings.
I only gave three stars because of one main issue. The openings for the treat/food to go through are quite small and oblong shaped. Regular treats definitely will not work with this. Small breed dry food is about the only passable item. Otherwise, my fur babies love looking for their surprises and pretty easy to teach your fur baby how to use it.

Great Enrichment Toy/ Slow feeder
Bennie loves this toy!! Definitely helps with his mental stimulation as well as slows down his feeding! he does paw at it back and forth — and I do think it’s helping keep his nails trimmed down a bit. He got crazy and chewed a flap on it one day and customer service was MORE than happy to send me FREE replacements!! We use this at least every other day. He’s a 70 pound American Pit Terrier. Definitely worth the money! The only thing I would suggest is a better way to keep it stationary , on the floor.

Works great just dont lose faith too soon!
I bought this almost a year ago and my pup wouldnt use it right away and it was tough to convince him too but once he figured it out it was amazing! We use it everyday now to slowfeed half his meal.He absolutely hatesss his nails getting clipped and is terrified of it (he literally peed from fear one time). But he looovees this thing and actually prefers his meals from it. And it makes it sooo much easier to do his back nails and dew claws because it takes so much less time to do those myself than all his nails. Such a stress saver! My only complaint is we cant use treats in it unless i give him wayy too many of them but totally worth it and works great using it as a slowfeeder holds half his days meal (hes fed once a day) perfectly and the rest i toss in a bowl so he doesnt overdo it on his claws.Havent had any issues at all. I myself never buy puzzle toys new (thrift) cause of the high cost but as the one exception i have made, best $40 I ever spent! Not to mention supporting a small buissiness which was part of why i made the exception, that and the uniqueness of the product.

Not for quick learners
Good concept, but there’s a few things wrong with this, at least for my puppy. Got this when he was nearly 3 months old and he learned how to use it within 2 tries even with the nail filer. Problem #1 is, he quickly learned that he didn’t need to use his nails so now his pushes it with his paw pad and it’s been wearing on it. Problem #2 is, this is supposed to also act as a slow feeder but you can't adjust the amount of food that dispenses so he finished eating nearly 1 cup of food in 5 minutes. So I wouldn’t recommend this if you have a dog that’s very good at puzzles.

A miracle worker
My dog hates getting her nails clipped, but she loves this food dispenser. It took her a while to figure it out, but food is a strong motivator for her, so she figured it out. After a few days of using it, I noticed her nails much shorter and smoother to the touch. I even starter worrying about them getting too short. Now we use it every few weeks and it feels like the right frequency to keep her nails in check. It doesn't reach the really sharp dewclaw nails on her front paws, but those are easier to clip with traditional clippers than her big strong nails. It's really easy and fun to use, but it is only compatible with smaller dry foods. If you have meaty chunks in your kibble like Purina One Smart Blend has, they will need to be removed first, which is a little inconvenient. The suction doesn't work very well, but when placed on carpet or a rug, it doesn't fly around too much, and it's okay without them. It's a life saver when it comes to keeping my dog's nails in check.
