7-inch Stainless Steel Sight Glass with Clear View Water Level for Travel Berkey and Big Berkey Gravity Fed Water Filter Systems and Other Gravity Filter Tank

I lived with my large Berkey filter for 15 years without a sight glass to show the level of filtered water available in the holding tank. Finally I got tired of guessing and bought this MUGLIO. It is very solid, works perfectly and is easy to install -- with a small glitch. It comes with a stainless steel-backed interior washer/seal for the inside of the holding tank. The washer is made of neoprene and snugs up against the wall of the tank with a large stainless nut. When I first installed the spout it did not leak water around the seal, but after a couple of weeks the nut worked just a tiny bit loose or the seal deformed a bit -- and water started seeping out around the bottom of the holding tank. I was hesitant to tighten the nut any further for fear of doing damage to the spout or the tank itself. Instead I got a standard soft black rubber washer, took the spout off and installed the rubber washer on the shaft against the *outside* wall of the tank and then reassembled. The softer washer compressed easily and made a very tight connection/seal both inside and outside of the tank. I don't think will work lose and the leak is permanently sealed.

It fits my Fachio 2.25 gallon gravity water filter perfectly. Sealed great, little red ball is accurate. The only thing I had to do before mounting, was clean the insides out from factory grease, and clean up the burr left behind from machining inside the spigot so it wouldn't cut the rubber seal inside . unscrew the black cap,on bottom inside spigot. be careful the burr cut my finger when cleaning inside where robber stopper seats against bottom. otherwise it is a quality built spigot.

This spigot is much better than the official one from Berkey and has none of the same problems. This one just works and you don’t feel dumb for paying too much.Berkey’s view spigot cost $80, took two weeks to arrive, leaks because it’s poorly designed and is made cheaply with unfinished razor sharp edges. This isn’t that.

Why did I wait so long? This works as it should. I no longer need to lift the top off to look at the filtered level. No leaks and positive shut off. Only negative, very small one, is the valve does not lock open like the Berkey did. Not an issue for me.

It leaks out of the connection between the glass indicator and the spigot. The connection does not seem to be threaded, im unable to tighten it, it just spins. Returning…

Quality looks great. The problem is that it only comes with a single nut for bulkhead installation, and it's an uncommon thread pitch and size.

I ordered this because the Berkey brand ones are just a little too pricey for me to justify. This does the trick of showing you how full the bottom of the Travel Berkey is. The only drawback is that the valve lever does not have a flip-lock to keep it open hands free like the original black plastic berkey valve. That came in handy when not having two hands to fill something. Also a word of caution, there was a sharp metal shaving on the top from the factory which gave me a little cut when I was first handling and washing it. So I recommend cleaning it carefully when you first get it in case there are metal shards from the machining process.
