Large Telescoping Portable Suction Grab Bar

After a hospital stay, we needed a bar in the shower. The PT guy said you can buy cheaper ones but if you want one that really works buy this one. I thought it was a little pricey but ordered it anyway. It grabbed to the shower wall and never came off til we took it off. Worth every penny for peace of mind.

I bought two of these and would really like to feel good about my purchase. But I think I have wasted ~ $200 for products that simply don't work. They are solid and reasonably attractive. I have followed instructions faithfully -- esp. cleaning my 12" marble tiles with any number of products (Windex, rubbing alcohol, vinegar, of course water) as well as the suction cups. I install the units, using requisite pressure, and when I pull at them they are (or seem to be) solidly attached. Then, minutes or hours later -- it's unpredictable, even in the middle of the night -- I hear a crashing sound from the bathroom as one of the units has fallen to the shower floor. I can't see how I am doing anything wrong. The units are solidly attached when I leave them. And then -- unpredictably -- they fall. I suppose this might have been a useful purchase if I am willing to install the units before each shower and then pick them up whenever they have fallen. But that's not what I paid $200 for. I would return them, but the packaging has unfortunately been discarded. I would be delighted to post an update and say they have magically stayed up. I would be grateful for even a full day of staying up. But this doesn't seem likely. A photo of a failure even while I was writing this is attached. The unit had stayed up for less than half an hour.

This works well on our smooth tile shower for when my elderly mother visits. It does need to be checked or reinstalled prior to each shower, as sometimes it does come loose over several days to a week.

Worked very well at first--installed on clean 8" glass shower tile. Grip was very good. Unfortunately, one of the cups does not grip well anymore and will release without any pressure. It's an accident looking to happen should I use it to brace myself and it releases. Unsafe...........

I purchased 2 of these grab bars for my 85 y/o mother-in-law to use in the bath. They work fantastic. They adhered great to the tile walls after I made sure to put them on completely dry walls (have been up for several weeks and have yet to come off). We had purchased a cheaper brand first and it wouldn't stick to the wall at all. I highly recommend this product.

This seems like a great tool for elderly people in the shower. My shower tile has a slight texture to it, so the bar did not hold up for more than a minute. If my 81 year old mother had showered with the bar in place, it could have injured her if it fell off. It is quite heavy. Wish we could have used it but had to return it. A safety hazard for us instead of a helpful tool.

Excellent - Holds like it was screwed into the wall. I test it anyway before getting into the shower and it's still solid as a rock. Note - I cleaned the tiles with Tilex to remove any scale buildup on the tile before attaching the grab bar. Only one I could find that fit 4" tiles.

THIS ITEM WAS ADVERTISED TO STAY ON ANY SURFACE. THAT IS THE MAIN REASON WE BOUGHT IT. BUT, IT DOES N NOT. WE HAVE A FIBERGLASS SHOWER THAT IS NOT A SMOOTH SURFACE, AND IT WOULD STAY ON TIGHT FOR JUST A FEW MINUTES, THEN FALL OFF. STARTED TO SEND IT BACK, BUT THOUGHT WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO USE IT ON OUR VACATION.
