Good Musicals, Great Quality
This dvd has many good musical shorts. what i like about it is it contains so many hot blonde ladies that sing and are just plain adorable and hot as hellll.it makes me relieve my stress and everything. It sends me to a world that is so heavenly that will never happen again. The discs contain rare Two Tone and Technicolor shorts which I love by the way. It is so entertaining, I watched my favorite short film about 8-10 times a year. I watch this many times to stay away from liberal lunatics that are now degenerating the society to the bottom. Back when there was a time when society was normal, no offended by everything, and of course... communism was ILLEGAL in USA unlike today

1948 America.
This a product of 1948 America. Therefore, it's very limited in scope and appeal. I know many people who wouldn't like it and view it as maybe offensive. I knew the content of this film and had no problem with this. If one takes history in account, this is very interesting short film(s). But it is not going to reflect all of American music only a segment of it. It ignores many other Americans who were alive and active in the field of music in 1948.

A great DVD on old Hollywood.
A beautiful DVD about a time long past. A lot of footage on the Coconut Grove in Hollywood. I love watching the old stars in their party time.

The real oldies are the best.
By the 1940;s, these movie shorts were so strictly formulized that the behavior of the "impromptu" guests (after many hours of obvious rehearsal) on some of the big band selections is almost an insult to one's intelligence. Some real prizes in the shorts from the 1920's and OK Technicolor from the mid-1930's. Looks as if most of the oldies have been decently mastered, given the likely condition of the film masters.

Four Stars
Pleased with the content but, unfortunately, I had to return it due to intermittent playback problems.

A taste of night club variety acts from the 20's-30's
It was mostly performers I wasn't familiar with except my aunt, Harriet Hoctor. Even that was disappointing because it was "toe dancing" and not much ballet that she became famous for. However, it shows the "variety acts" that were popular in night clubs in the 20's and 30's.
