Valuable book for understanding the growth of Islam among African American after the death of Malcolm X.First hand account by Sh Mahmoud sheds much needed light on the early interaction of young Muslim reverts trying to practice Islam in a Jewish-Christian secular society.

92 pages long. Text runs from pp. 17-68. Remainder are brief, arbitrary, essays unrelated to the topic. Shallow with no personal insights into the time or movement the author was invilved in. You can learn of the origins, split and dissolution from the internet. None of this is discussed in the book. Contributes nothing to the history of Islam in Anerica. The music has a fascinating history and he discusses none of it.
