It's not the same as the real trains... the motors are junk.
I don't think my Son cares, but just FYI, these are not legit and have weaker mechanical and electrical components.

Needs compatible Track
I purchased #2 Edward for our two-year old grandchildren and #5 James. I did not realize these are not like the wooden push trains-- they do not have magnetic "hitches" and are not the same width - wider wheel base so they cannot go on the wooden tracks we have for other Brio/wooden Thomas sets.The trains themselves are fine and would be lots of fun if you have the system that is compatible. I give it a 5 star because they did not do "anything" -- I just hadn't realized the differences I mentioned.

Dennis is defective
I bought Dennis for my grandson because he collects Thomas and Friends trains. The switch was not working so I thought he broke it. I ordered another Dennis and guess what, the switch does not work on this one either. We just opened it and the train does not go. And yes, I have new batteries and they are in correctly.
