Profound wisdom
In her book, Kiran Scarr beautifully expresses the notion that our brands are not solely defined by our achievements but rather by the way we make others feel when they engage with us. This powerful idea reminds me of Maya Angelou's timeless wisdom: "I've learned that people will forget what you said, peoplewill forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."It's a gentle reminder that the impact we leave on others can endure long afterthe interaction has passed. As leaders, when we devote ourselves to nurturing the relationships in our lives, we witness a natural evolution of our authentic selves. True leadership brands are not forged through forced attempts to emulate someone else. We cannot simply "fake it till we make it." Lasting change occurs when we embrace and cultivate our true selves, rather than striving to become what we are not.It is from this place of inner authenticity that we can truly make meaningful and orderly change possible. By consistently tending to our own growth and development, we create an environment where positive transformation can thrive. Our actions and intentions become aligned, fostering a genuine connection with those around us.

A new era of leadership in law
This book gives me great hope for the future of law. There are some industries that have rewarded toxic behaviours for so long; where egos are out of control, and psychological damage is common. It can be different. Kiran describes how to achieve that difference by unleashing potential in others. Any professional who embraces this will create worthwhile legacy.

Practical advice from an experienced practical lawyer who really understands the legal profession
Which lawyer doesn't want to evolve from being just a high performer to a conscious lawyer?! This is the author's definition of a conscious lawyer: "conscious lawyers embrace humanness and show humility, empathy and compassion. They are purpose driven, which means they prioritise sustainable outcomes over immediate profits".Brilliantly structured - see below - and referenced, this book also feels like a conversation with the author because she shares some deeply personal experiences from her time as a lawyer "doing high performance"Easy for busy readers to navigate:Leap 1: connect to the leader in youLeap 2: awaken your purposeLeap 3: relate to the people around youLeap 4: entrust others to fulfil their potentialI have worked in City law for over 25 years, but I now work with Gen Z a lot and I liked the commentary on how best to manage the new generation of lawyers. For example: "Traditional management techniques cannot respond to the motivations and expectations of a new generation. Traditional command and control leadership can send millennials running out of the door. Gen Z are more entrepreneurial and thrive in independent work environments".A BRILLIANT book - thank you Kiran Scarr!
