Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East (Condensed Edition of Vols. 1-3)

I purchased the audio version of The Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East, which covers Volumes 1-3 of the series of the books. Having owned all of the volumes for over 35 years (and still have them), I can say that this abridged version of the first 3 volumes is excellent. The parts that have been edited out are not particularly necessary for listening, so the listener isn't missing important details. The man doing the voice over does a very nice job, and the music that is used to transition the listener is quite beautiful and uplifting.The first 3 volumes of either the book, or this recording, are the main story. I have found that the other books are not really worth reading, as they are the story of what happened after the writer gets back from his journey. The main pilgrimage the writer and his group took in 1894 through Pakistan, and other areas of the Far East is the story. And what a story it is! So inspiring, so wonderful. I keep these CD's with me and listen to them in the car most of the time, and travel with them as well, listening to them with my CD player.If the seeker of spiritual inspiration and truths wishes to hear and learn about the possibilities of life, even while here on earth, I can recommend no other book or CD audio recording that will be more useful, as proved by the fact that almost 40 years later I still listen to this wonderful story and sometimes read from the books, and find new joy each time.

For someone on the spiritual path this series is a must have - I love them.

Spiritual teachings from a journey to the far east in the late 1800's, searching for scientific proof of universal laws and living as Jesus and others have been reported to for generations. A masterful story. Universal teachings to encourage mastery in all. I keep this in my car CD player and listen to it often. I always receive more with each listen. I recommend the 6 book series. They come in paperback in a cardboard open box to keep them on your bookshelf. I give it as a gift and recommendation for many.

Wow! I have listened to the CDs several times since purchasing them. They are incredible for seekers, such as I. How wonderful to enter the world of spirit and, from there, glance back at the world of modern humans. There is so much more in life than careers, pharmaceuticals, television, juke movies, keeping up with the Jones, corporate profits, "doing the right thing," and worrying about how attractive or popular one is. I am inspired and feel encouraged to continue more deeply into my spiritual practice!One glitch: listen carefully with headphones, because the voice is a tad monotone.

It was fun to listen too, there is so much more information on this subject in this day and age if you want to look for it. But back in their age what they wrote and noted must have been a shock to most if, not all who read it. I have the five book set and much was cut from the original text, but still work the time to listen!

I read the Life and Teachings of the Masters of the Far East many years ago and never forgot them. I had read the first, second and third. They involve a true experience of 11 scientists who spent 3 1/2 years with men considered to be "masters," much like Jesus (who even appears in a couple of the books) in the last decade of the 1800's. They demonstrate what we humans are truly capable of and explain much of what Jesus was trying to teach us that has often been misconstrued. Very inspirational!
