Fabulous
I honestly didn't think I was going to like this when I first started it. I am not usually an enemies to lovers person, but the storyline is absolutely stunning and so well done I couldn't stop reading. The narrators for the audio are great as well. I just finished this one and will be moving directly to the next book in the series.Warning: This is a more subtle read and not as naughty as many others I have read and it is a slow burn. However, was so well written I couldn't stop.

Good series
I want to start out by saying the author did an amazing job with developing characters. The reactions, attitudes, etc. were all extremely realistic and really drew me in. I really loved the first five books, but I feel like there were some missed opportunities in the last book so overall I was disappointed a little bit with the ending on book 6. I will leave a separate review for that book only if anyone cares what I have to say. :)

Great book
I didn't like Larisa in the beginning. She was whiny and immature and never thought outside her own wants. But I do like the King and their relationship. Great plot and characters. Excited to read book 2!

Awesome
Honestly, I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. It's a quick and easy read, but the story behind it is honestly quite good. The last chapter.... By the gods, it was heartbreaking. It does end in a small cliffhanger but not the kind that pisses you off.Story 4.5/5Smut: 3/5

Good story lacking detail
Love the storyline, but wow, lacking detail. Author seriously could have added two hundred pages by giving more information about every single scene. The exaggerated spacing makes this more like 200 page book and fast read.

different
I liked this book a lot. Itās different from most vampire books and Fang brings it a very unique aspect. I really loved him lol The relationship developed much more realistically than most captive/captor books. There is real angst and loathing and the truth bombs Larisa drops are almost too harsh but reality. Kingsnake might be obsessed but he still has reservations about her and isnāt at all the perfect male. I hate when the female lead is super flawed and the male perfection. So I loved that it was more realistic.A few things that threw me⦠WHAT COLOR ARE HER EYES?? Maybe I missed it but the snakes looks are described more than hers. I can imagine the snake, imagine kingsnake. But for her I imagine a faceless brown headed lady. No idea how tall, eye colors or any features at all really. That bothered me š¤£Also, her reading emotions at the beginning was super confusing. It was as an earned knowledge after several chapters you kind of learn of her ability but at the beginning itās super confusing. Some descriptive things are repeated A LOT and itās kind of annoying. (āHe/she looked back and forth between her/his eyesā was repeated like 4/5 times in a few page span).Overall very good read with a good bit of spice, angst, mystery. You donāt get too big of dump of info on the world/beings and characters at the beginning (sometimes overwhelming for the reader) and I feel like itās a good pace learning about the world they live in and characters.

Great Read
Believe it or not but I didn't want to read this book. I wanted Crow and all Barsettis. Back. I wanted more of the skull king, but I love your books and they are always good, so I tried it and OMG ! I can't wait to get to number two. I loved all the action, drama, romance and thrills. This book has all that! Thank you for writing this book and I will never even think about not reading any again.

Intimate Bloody Touches
"Bite the Woman That Feeds: A Dark Fantasy Romance (Dirty Blood Book 1)" by Penelope Barsetti takes readers on a captivating journey into a world of dark fantasy, where vampires and desire entwine. While the story weaves an enchanting tapestry, it's not without its faults. The little poetic vignettes scattered throughout the book add an intimate touch, like finding secret notes hidden in a lover's journal. They draw you in, making you feel like you're peeking into the characters' most private thoughts. But here's the rub: they mysteriously vanish halfway through the book, leaving you wanting for more.Painting Pictures with Words:Barsetti's descriptions are vivid without going overboard. She paints pictures with her words, allowing you to visualize the world without drowning in details. It's like watching a movie with the right amount of special effects ā enough to dazzle but not so much that you lose track of the plot.A Dialogue Dilemma:Dialogue tags are as rare as a unicorn in this story, and it's a double-edged sword. On one hand, it keeps the story flowing smoothly, almost like eavesdropping on a conversation. But on the other, it can leave you scratching your head, wondering who's saying what. It's like trying to follow a tangled ball of yarn without a map.Slow Burn and Possessive Charms:What this book does brilliantly is the slow burn. It gradually builds up to a mouthwatering climax. The Alpha male lead, Kingsnake, is genuinely possessive and has weaknesses, not some all-powerful Superman in disguise. He has his flaws, which makes his possessiveness and the action scenes all the more captivating.A Breath of Fresh Air in Vampire Lore:A vampire with a snake familiar is a welcome departure from the worn-out tropes of the genre.Actions Speak Louder Than Words:The characters in this story don't need to utter the words "enemies to lovers." Their actions say it all.Shifting Back and Forth, and Back and Forth:However, a minor annoyance comes from the phrase "shifted back and forth." It's used so frequently that it feels like a stuck record. It's like hearing the same catchy tune on the radio a hundred times in a day."Bite the Woman That Feeds" is a dark fantasy romance that takes you on a tantalizing ride. It's a tale of desire, possession, and forbidden love with its own quirks and charms. So, grab a copy and prepare to be bitten by this intriguing world of vampires and passion. Just be ready to hear that phrase "shifted back and forth" more times than you'd expect.

Nectar of the damned
Wow š¤©, what a story . This brilliant author whether she writes as Penelope Barsetti or Penelope Sky , which ever genre she writes in is totally phenomenal, awe inspiring, captivating, interesting, exciting, intriguing, dramatic, romantically absorbing , just to mention a few descriptive ways. The storyline is so well written, flows so smoothly, is perfectly edited , and all characters, although fantasy are so real. Some endearing , some terrify, some cute but exceptionally dangerous. Who would think a story about the undead would be so magically portrayed that the reader wishes that she/he was infact Larisa, and Kingsnake the lover, companion and protector. I personally do lot like snakes but Fangās attitude, sarcasm and ability to be almost a person with arms and legs , may persuade me otherwise. We have a situation where the human race is in decline do to a plague. Larisa, finds herself looking after the dying but not catching the disease. Unlike any others that come into contact with an infected human. Vampires rely on human blood to keep up their strength and normal functions, although animal blood can be taken, but is not a satisfying. Larisa is a commodity required by Kingsnake for himself and his people. However once he has a taste , all promises are of as he desires her immediate and immensely. The story progresses and would be very wrong for me to tell more as this is a story if you like fantasy, vampires, orks , elves , goblins and much more is most definitely for you. The only disappointment is Iāve finished the book!! Yes there is a cliffhanger. This is definitely good against semi-evil and despicable evil. The hero is not as black blooded as you may think! Or is he. The heroine is not in love with the hero, or is she. Hopefully the next book will answer more questions and give answers, but I have a strong feeling this storyline has a way to go. Loosing some of the characters along the way, which will be upsetting but picking up more evil and good ones before we get what we all want and the characters need.

Push pull to the max
This was a real love hate relationship till the very end. Just as it was starting to become a mutual love āBAMā back to hate. I really enjoyed this book., it had all the tropes i like and then some. A little inconsistent with some things but not enough to really notice. A must read for those who love angst.
