duraflame Infrared Quartz Electric Log Set Heater

We looked at several electric log sets to put into our wood fireplace. While we like real wood fires, we got tired of all the work that went in getting them going, keeping them going, and cleaning up the ash. Most of the sets didn't seem realistic to us at all... but these looked reasonable and the cost was right. What we got was better than we expected. The size of the set looked proportional for our fireplace, and looked more realistic than expected (not perfect, but very good). There are a lot of adjustments, for size of flame and brightness, flame speed, and heat. We were pleasantly surprised that this actually puts out more heat than we expected. We wanted some heat, but didn't have high expectations. This overdelivered. You can adjust the temperature or turn off the heat altogether. Sitting on my sofa and adjusting everything by remote control is MUCH nicer than having to get up all evening to stoke the fire or add more logs... and no cleanup! Very satisfied.

Absolutely love this fireplace! The look and aesthetic is really great. I love that it has a background illumination of a fire and you can customize that along with temperature. The settings show up in the illumination and will change with the controller. Some said the noise level was loud but I did not find that the case at all. There is a low hum that comes from the heater, but nothing more than you would expect from any other heater that blows air. Worth the money if you have a wood burning fireplace that you don’t want to burn wood because of the mess that comes with it.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS! We have a wood burning pre-fab fireplace but hate the mess that comes with bringing logs into the house and cleaning ash from the firebox. We were also cautioned by an HVAC tech to only use the fireplace on occasion due to the fire actually pulling warm air from our home, and sending it up the chimney with most of the heat from the fire. So this was a perfect solution! We have had guests who have thought it was a gas firelog! It's realistic enough if you set it to the right glow and flame speed. Yes those are adjustable, with different brightness levels for the glow in the center of the logs and different speed settings for the dancing effect of the faux flames. I tend to set both on a medium setting and that's what I think looks most realistic. As far as the heater portion of this...we are very happy with the heat output! Our heat pump died on us and due to financial hardship we have zero heat this winter! We live in Georgia with a milder winter than the Northern portion of the country, but still with lows averaging in the 30's. We have this heater in the main half of our home (600 square feet with vaulted ceilings, 12 feet high at center, over a 4 foot high poorly insulated crawl space) and along with a 1500 watt electric oil radiator, it's kept our open concept living/dining/kitchen area warm. The thermostat functions great! Heat output is good. Blower is adequate, but I wish it was just a bit stronger as I feel like that would distribute the heat quicker. You will need to have an outlet within 6 feet of your fireplace, but seeing as we do, this was a perfect fit for us! I tried one of the lesser known brands that was a bit cheaper, but it was very fake looking with the logs looking like a pile of lumps more than actual logs. This one was a keeper, and the flames even appear to dance from the center of the logs too, not just the back. Very happy with this purchase!

I’ve ordered two different fireplace inserts of this sort, and this brand stands out as far better than the other one I ordered (which was the popular style when you search for one of these products). Unlike the other kinds, this one looks presentable when not in use. I would say there’s still room for two major improvements though: The ember glow should warble, and not be uniform. Also there really needs to be a crackle sound added to any of these such products. The fact that you have to order one separately, requiring yet another device with remote is frustrating and seems like such an easy addition for the company to make. That being said, DO splurge for the additional crackle box. The difference it makes is such that I would call it absolutely necessary and non-negotiable. No odor while running heat. The heat is enough for pets or close-seating to enjoy, but I wouldn’t rely on it as the sole heat source. Setting indication is projected to the back wall of your fireplace while adjusting, and disappears while not actively adjusting. So if you place these logs directly to the back of your fireplace you cannot see the control settings (such as temperature and glow level).

Bought this because I live in a small condo and can’t have actual fires because everything smells. This is the perfect replacement, still get all the cozy vibes! I don’t run the heat on it often but it works well warms up the space around it and is quiet. No assembly was necessary just plug in and use! Very simple and easy solve to my problem!

I’ve been using Amazon for @25 years, buying items weekly, but don’t normally want to take my time writing reviews. But sometimes a product is exceptional and I feel that I have to. I love the ambiance of a lit fireplace but being older I just don’t enjoy hauling in wood and especially cleaning out ashes. Much less opening and closing the chimney damper between fires. This electric fireplace, however, is unreal in its design and lifelike appearance. I didn’t buy it for heating, which it does somewhat, but for the aesthetic feel of a fireplace. Has a remote control and it digitally displays the different settings(temperature, flame size, timer, etc.) on the back inside wall of your fireplace. Like an alarm clock that displays the time on your bedroom ceiling. Again, unbelievable realism and mediocre heating. Heater blower creates a little sound but can be turned off or will cycle itself on and off. If you want to add even more to the illusion of a crackling fire, just ask Alexa to play fireplace sounds.

Very realistic look to the logs and 'flames'. It also heats up a small room very quickly. All that's missing is the sound of a crackling fire. I love it!

Very nice and looks so real . I am not using it for heating

First of all - it looks absolutely amazing. Gives off great heat too. And controls are well thought out. The only gripe I have is that at higher flame speed setting there is an audible whirring if the motor that drives the flame animation. But it can only be heard if the heat is not on, as the heater fan drowns the noise out almost entirely. Still, to ould have been nice if it had a quiet operation when used in the ambient lighting mode. The whirring ruins the illusion. Maybe if this model had a crackling sound, this wouldn't have been so noticeable.
