Easy repair
I was considering replacement of our Hotpoint tumble dryer but decided to Google the symptom (loud squeaking during operation) and found a link to a very helpful YouTube video. The replacement part came quickly and fitted well, albeit with a gentle tap with a hammer, and the dryer now works perfectly again. The original part was badly worn (as shown in the attached photo of original and replacement parts).

Such a cheap and simple solution
I'm not normally one to take apart appliances. When the washing machine or oven broke, I called the repair man. But this was so quick and easy to replace, I would encourage anyone who owns a screwdriver to give it a go. There's a very helpful YouTube video that takes you through it step by step. Takes about five minutes.

Poor quality
Update: the original bearing lasted 3 years, this has worn right through in 5 months, it appears to be made of cheap soft metal. waste of time and money. I've ordered a replacement from Indesit, it's twice the price but last over 6 times longerI've had 2 tumble dryers in a row from the Whirlpool / Indesit group and they've both had problems with this component, the drum spigot wears though this washer over time. The problem starts with a squeaking drum, and eventually the machine would fail completely if not fixed, likely outside of warranty. (The attached photos show the old washer in situ and the wear on it, this was brand new less than 3 years ago and it's almost worn right through. Compare this to a new washer). Seems almost designed to fail. There are plenty of YouTube videos showing how to replace this part, you just need a screwdriver set and a pair of thin pliers. Remove the plastic heat shield and metal back panel of the dryer (about 10 screws in total), gently bend the retaining s-shaped pin and undo the hex screw holding the old washer in place and remove it, replace with the new one, give it a squirt of a high temperature lubricant like white lithium, reassemble, job done, 10 minutes. Saves a lot of money Vs buying a replacement or getting a repair done. There's another easy repair on these machines involving resetting the thermostat when it stops heating the air, again quite easy to do with some disassembly.

Does the job
My tumble dryer had been squeezing for months at the end of the cycle. Found out that this could be the replacement part needed, which it fortunately was. Does the job and easy to fit.
