Does the ThermaBind 500 work well on textbooks?

You can use this to bind or repair books up to two inches thick and uo to 12 7/8 inches long. There are 3 time setting to allow repeatable control for a wide variety of operations. The machine is compatible with all thermal binding products except for Fastbind tape binding which requires a very different machine.

What accessories does this come with? I don't see anything that says what is in the box. Thanks

There are no accessories. The company sent me several covers to sample since I was buying a number of them. I would recommend that you get the ones made by fellowes, especially if you’re working on something pressing and have not used one before. Also be sure to get the covers that match the number of pages you seek to bind, it’s accurate. Overall, this machine has saved me thousands of dollars and has enabled me to do my work in-house. I highly recommend it….

Can this machine bind hard cover books?

The TB500 will work well with both hard cover and soft cover books from all manufacturers. It was designed from the outset to be a "Universal" machine because we sell all brands of thermal covers.

can it be used with the unibind hardcovers

The TB500 was set up to be a universal machine that works with all brands of thermal covers. The default 60 second cycle should be adequate for most Unibind products. You can select 120 seconds if the books are very thick or you are doing a few at the same time.

2 other teachers and I pitched in to purchase this machine to bind our notebooks for the kids for next year. So far, I have used this to bind 300 notebooks and it has been a champ. Bought for school library to repair books. It works well - melted existing glue first, then we mended the books with new glue. The book repairs are solid and look like they will hold up. It seems very very comparable to another name brand book repair machine that costs 4x more and living on a budget, we are thrilled to have this option that works just as well. I also appreciate the small business aspect- as soon as I ordered they called me to discuss order & uses. They wanted to make sure that I was getting the right machine & glue for my needs, which I appreciate. If I have any issues I know I can call & talk to someone about them. First rate experience the whole way around.
