Great weight and girth

Bought this as a gift for my Son's promotion. He liked this very much and now uses this as EDCFor me an overall good buying experience

I've never had a Sheaffer before but I really liked the look of this chrome Icon. It was a lot cheaper here than at the dedicated pen shop I usually buy from (which is unusual, but I guess it happens). The pen is exactly what I hoped it would be—looks great, feels nice and solid, and the balance works really well for me. The pen doesn't post securely (once the cap fell off when I had it posted) — it writes well unposted. I The pen comes with a Sheaffer converter (I assume it's proprietary?), a blue cartridge, and a black cartridge. I filled the converter with a Diamine ink and the medium nib wrote well straight out of the box.I'm not sure it's worth upwards of the MSRP of CA$120, because around that price you can get some other really nice pens, but at CA$70 it's a good buy, particularly since the converter is included. I'm very pleased with this pen, overall. It comes in a nice box, so it would work well as a gift, too.

The Sheaffer Icon is, apparently, a fairly recent addition to their stable. Available as a fountain pen, ballpoint, or rollerball, the Icon is mid-priced for Sheaffer pens. I ordered the chrome fountain pen which Aamazon AU was selling for a very good price. On reviewing the Icon range on Amazon, I was even more suprised to see the price that Amazon AU was selling the Icon rollerbal in red metallic lacquer for - AUD9.95. Considering this represented a a discount of some 90 percent (or more) off the normal retail price, I assumed it might be a typo. I've learned to be sceptical about "if it looks too good to be true..." prices from some third party sellers, but this was Amazon sold and supplied. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. At that price I have to place an order. In fact, at that price I'll order three! At worst, I'll get a message telling me the item is no longer available or something similar. Jump forward three weeks, and I now have my three Sheaffer Icon Rollerballs and change from 30 Aussie dollars! It's a lovely, substantial, rollerball pen. It's a large pen, with a total weight of just over 47 grams. Needless, to say, the price quickly climbed back to a more appropriate level. I'm a happy camper. Thanks, Amazon.
