Romance with a difference
This is so different than I was expecting. I would have given it 5 stars but I felt the end was a bit rushed or would have benefited from an extended epilogue. That said this is a dark tale of romance and deceit. The characters are based on Greek Mythology and give the story a very different vibe.Daphne has married into the all powerful Godwin family and is trapped in a loveless relationship with her husband Apollo one of a pair of identical twins. When it is discovered she has betrayed Apollo in an effort to escape a marriage that will not be ended by divorce she has signed her own death warrant.A tragic accident leads to her being spared and she is pushed back into the arms of the husband she hates. The story takes a very interesting twist, becomes very dark and very steamy. I want to tell you so much more but it would ruin the book for you. Pick this up now, it is different in so many ways and you won't regret reading it,

Intriguing start to the series, but hoped for more background info on the MMC.
I'll be honest, whilst I did read the blurb for this before I signed up, I must have forgotten what it was about because I wasn't expecting the play on mythology that was encompassed in this. However, I loveee when books are inspired by Greek Mythology, so that was a bonus for me!I don't really want to say too much about the rest though bc i feel like it might lead to spoilers.I'd give this 3.5* as I thought the book flowed well and i liked the chemistry and emotion that built between the two main characters. Although I do wish we'd have seen a bit more development of the MMC's background. I kept expecting a certain other character to make an appearance even though it was made pretty clear that they wouldn't, but i thought maybe that might have been a red herring. *Spoiler alert* it wasn't lool, Alta really did that! This had quite a unique storyline for me, which was nice as it meant it wasn't super predictable and we always love when the 'villain' gets the girl. Although I did wonder how Daphne just didn't KNOW! Ngl, it did kinda stress me out that she didn't work it out earlier, like was she even paying attention before???She did get a little annoying at times too, because she kept doing the same thing over and over. And every-time I thought that maybe she wouldn't be so st*pid this time, she proved me wrong lmao. Because the same end result kept happening! However, I can understand why she was so desperate to get away.Interested in seeing what's going to happen in book two, after the way this book left off. (Book 2 will be a new couple, however we did see 1 chapter from the FMC's POV at the end of this). I suspect I know who the MMC is, and I think his story is going to be very intriguing and possibly much darker!*TW: Please heed any trigger warnings the author has attached to this book.

Not your traditional romance
Switch off everything you know about traditional romance this really is its opposite. Full of heat and very steamy scenes, it will have you on the edge of your seat. Apollo and Ares Godwin, identical twin brothers, are two very different people. Apollo is the quiet, harmless brother who does the business's finaces. On the other hand Ares is the dangerous brother, he "cleans up" and "gets rid" of anyone who crosses the Godwin family. Apollo is married to Daphne, but the marriage is not a happy one. Daphne wants a divorce, but once you are part of the Godwin family the only way out is death!Apollo is killed in a helicopter crash, Ares survives but everyone thinks Ares died and Apollo survived. I have my own theory about this part of the story line, I will leave you to work out your own theory. Only Ares and Apollo's father knows the truth about who died, and tells Ares to become Apollo and make the marriage to Daphne work.Daphne and Ares have a really scorching hot chemistry between them. Daphne feels really confused about this, it was never there with Apollo. This to me felt unreal, with Ares playing the role of Apollo and falling back on "residual amnesia" after the crash for any lapses on his part, and Daphne just accepting this.Daphne and Ares almost get to place where they could find happiness together, when events do take quite a turn. Secrets and deception come to light, in a griping last third of the book, along with a teaser for the next book.
