First thing to know is that this is ONLY a tip that attaches to a quick swap tool. If you do not have the quick swap tool (I got mine as part of a set for scoring paper) you cannot use this.Now that that has been said, this works well with thin metal and leather (among other things) that you can feed into your machine. Think of things like the brass plate that sits at the base of a trophy. That sort of stuff works very well. Cricut Design Space has settings for several different types of metal including leather, copper, aluminum, and stainless steel. I tested this using a thin sheet of tin used for model building that was sold by the local big box hobby store.The one thing to know is that you need to change the the operation from "Basic Cut" to "Engrave" to use the tip. Also keep in mind that the engraving follows the lines of the are or text you layout. This can mean that instead of a engraved line of text you get the OUTLINE of engraved text. That being said, a little practice will quickly teach you what you need to know.I placed the sheet on metal sheet on my mat and had no issues. I have a light grip mat and it was fine for what I was doing. Your experience may vary.

I'm always wary about after-market parts for crafting tools, but this one seems to be compatible with my Cricut Maker. The quick swap housing, of course, makes it easy to change out tips, and it seems to be working just as good as the original Cricut engraving tip.

This tip was compatible with my Cricut Maker machine, I just slotted it onto a quick swap housing I had and it worked perfectly. Did a few small-scale tests and they came out as expected!

This engraving tip does a great job with my cricuit maker. It fit right in and I had no trouble with compatibility. The engraving is very clean and precise. I am sure this will become my new favorite tool for my engraving projects.
