Triggers are pretty awful but very usable unless you play melee competitively. The spring giving resistance on them is too strong and you can feel it stressing in the pull. D-pad isn't great, not terrible either, mushier than most. Analog and c stick are spot on, and that's what really mattered to me. Face buttons are pretty good too. Z trigger is as bad as l/r but because it has no resistance and feels likely to stick in. But for the price I can live with all this, and the clear plastic looks great. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better than average. For serious smashers, buy it for its shell. *by E***N on Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2019* I originally bought this controller for its transparent shell to put on my original Gamecube (OEM) controller, though I was surprised at the build quality. The shell is as clear as in the image, and the buttons and sticks felt pretty decent. The triggers are loose and very tight, however, and long use will strain your fingers, due to having tight springs and lacking a screw-fastened panel to keep the triggers in place that an OEM controller has.Unfortunately, I cannot attest to the use in-game as I disassembled the controller before use to investigate its components. When I reassembled it and tested it out, the controller would not work, but I'll blame myself for that as I must have messed up the wiring somewhere, but I will say that I've reassembled controllers plenty of times and never have I killed a controller even in careless reassembly, which this reassembly was not. So take that with a grain of salt about the wiring quality.If you're looking for a Smash Bros/Gamecube controller for competitive/serious use, first off, you're looking in the wrong place. An OEM (genuine) controller is your best bet for a reliable, good feeling controller that will last you at least a while but will of course come at a higher price.This controller has above average build quality but its still not trustworthy for intensive use.As for my reasons for buying this controller, I'm almost completely satisfied. The shell took minimal modifications to fit onto my OEM controller with original buttons, only having to file the x and y button slots wider and a board-holding rod shorter. I ended up not using the back of the shell as there was no easy way fastening the triggers in place with this controller's back shell, and also because an OEM board with a rumble motor will not have enough room for its motor.This is one of the cheapest controllers you'll find online.If you're looking for a casual controller, this controller wouldn't be bad if it works given its above average build quality.If you're looking to swap your controller shell, this is definitely an excellent candidate.If you're looking for a controller for competitive play, invest in an OEM controller - right now they average around $38 on ebay, having risen from about $25.
