Seventh Doctor Umbrella - Sylvester McCoy (7th Doctor) Official BBC Doctor Who Umbrella

As a long-time fan of the show, I couldn't resist this. I wasn't particularly keen on McCoy - or rather, of a certain one of his companions - but I did enjoy his style after the cartoonish excesses of the Colin Baker costume, and this umbrella seemed to sum him up perfectly.Now as to this umbrella in particular. It's a rather nice replica. It looks just like the original, though as the handle is made from plastic rather than painted metal, I expect it won't get as chipped. It's quite light, but feels to be of reasonable quality, certainly no worse than any of the other brollies in our house. There's a quick release trigger which works well and fast as it should. There's a velcro fastening to hold the folds together when it's down, and a rather nice slip cover in black with red question marks all over it.The handle feels nicer to hold than I expected. I have reasonably big hands and it fits comfortably. If you have very small hands you might struggle.Overall, it's quirky and fun. People mistake it for a Batman villain's umbrella (so far I've had Riddler, Joker and Penguin) but for those in the know, It will always raise a smile. To the TARDIS!

A great reproduction of the Seventh Doctor's signature brolly. It seems strong and sturdy and if you have look at a few original pictures of Sylvester with the original prop it's in much better condition. By the time of Battlefield it had obviously been chucked in the back of a prop van a few hundred times and looked the worse for it. Then again as a fan I know it's all actually all real so it's obviously seen action throughout time and space. Buy one. You know it will come in handy when you hear that peculiar wheezing and groaning noise that signals it's your turn to be a companion.You wouldn't think I'm a 50 year old grandfather would you?

I have been wanting an umbrella like this ever since seeing Sylvester McCoy's Doctor with one in the 1980s series! There was a replica in the early 1990s that was outside my price range, and I have seen fan-made replicas on internet auction sites that were also expensive and not quite accurate enough for my liking. This item is perfect and is just what I wanted - and less than half the price of any of the items I mention above.The handle itself is, in reality, slightly darker than I had expected, but then when I photographed it, the colour came up in the red I am used to, so perhaps it's just the case that the item really is darker!The only thing I didn't like was the needless question marks on the umbrella cover. These were not a feature of the original prop (which was never used on screen in a cover anyway) so it is something I have removed and will not use. Would have preferred a plain black cover - but only a minor issue.Will I use it as an actual umbrella? Possibly not. I am THAT sort of fan who wants to keep it pristine, but if you're looking for an affordable and recognisable conversation piece that is certainly usable for a practical real-world purpose then this beats a toy sonic screwdriver every time!

Really lovely umbrella. I'm so in love with it. People don't really get the 'Dr. Who' thing though, I get more comments saying it's a Riddler prop than a Doctor Who one. Doesn't matter to me though. Lovely weight, easy to carry and dries out after rain exposure very quickly. Love this umbrella!

Fantastic prop, very accurate reproduction of the original and very well made and sturdy too. Great service from this company and speedy delivery, I would highly recommend them.

Well worth having for any true fan of the series, However just don't buy it through amazon, yet again they are way over priced,goto the bbc shop site and buy it for a quarter of the price listed on here! otherwise It's well worth having and very sturdy.

Ein wirklich sehr gelungener Schirm. Er sieht nicht nur aus wie der Schirm des 7. Doktors- er begeistert auch durch eine super funktionierende Öffnungsmechanik und hochwertige Verarbeitung. Die mitgelieferte "Hülle" mit Fragezeichenaufdruck macht ihn definitiv zum absoluten Hingucker, ich wurde schon mehrfach auf diesen tollen Schirm angesprochen.Er hält trocken,ist stabil und sieht klasse aus- was kann man mehr von einem Regenschirm erwarten?Für Fans des 7. Doctors ein absolutes MUST have- und für Leute mit dem Hang zum aussergewöhnlichen ein tolles und praktisches Accesoire.Ganz klar 5 Sterne von mir.
