I recommend this book to every TEFL teacher I speak to. It is my bible when I am planning lessons.Nothing I have tried from this book has flopped or been disappointing - it's fantastic. With a little adaptation, many of the activities can fill a full lesson.Tiny drawbacks that should in no way prevent you buying it:The organisation strikes me as a little wierd - I do find myself having to flick through for a while to find what I need.It does what it says on the tin - it gives activities. It is not a lesson planning book and inexperienced teachers will need other resources to find out how to teach the subject matter that the activities then allow you to practise.

A fine book full of great ideas which can be instantly accessed and then used as they are or adapted with ease. Suitability of activities are indicated regarding language level and a warning symbol identifies subject areas that might be offensive or difficult for certain students.The book is provides ideas for quick warmers or fillers as well as longer activities and project ideas. Although most encounters with this publication have been by virtue of it being on the language school resource shelves, I have now made a point of obtaining my own copy for ESOL classes and private students. Highly recommended.

The activities in this book are extremely useful as a supplement for a course that I m obliged to teach with. The activites add a useful 5-15 minutes of in which students can practice grammar, function, conversation and grammar. With the minimum of fuss and without the distracting use of paper the lessons are quickly adaptable and have the added of advantage of taking students away from the book. This book has improved my lessons immeasurably. Highly recommended

If you're a teacher, you'll know the feeling well. You're in the teachers' room at break time desperately scouring all the materials you can find looking for something for your class, which is just about to begin. If you recognise that sinking feeling within, then this really is the perfect book for you. This book has really helped me out countless times - either when you need something to get a class motivated or have that 'oh-so-tricky' 15 minutes at the end to fill.The index at the back of the book helpfully lists activites according to themes students may wish to discuss eg family, hobbies etc but also by grammar point. Sometimes it can be difficult to find a game or activity which will be useful for testing the grammar point you have just taught eg conditional sentences but just one look at the back of the book and you are ready to go.A couple of things which I think are particularly good about this book are:- it's light enough to carry around with you so you can have a sneaky peek whenever you need to- the activities are graded so that you know which level of EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students to use them with- there are no lengthy introductions to the activities and no chopping up of paper so it really is one to read with seconds to spareThe reason I have given the book 4 rather than 5 stars is that most of the activities are for beginners - (upper) intermediate learners of English. I would have liked to have seen additional ones for advanced learners as this group pose just as many problems to teach as complete beginners in my opinion.Please note this book is primarily aimed at EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teachers but perhaps Primary School teachers teaching grammar would also find it useful.

Hundreds of ideas and most of them reasonable, which is unusual in this kind of book. In most books with teaching ideas I find 30%-40% ideas usable and the rest far-fetched or not really appropriate for my teaching style. By far the best book of its kind that I’ve come across.

Terrific for your average TEFL teacher, who probably hasn't done quite enough preparation, and has a classroom of demanding teenagers to keep happy. I think that its only weakness is that it is a little too focused at an class of adults rather than teenagers. Not strictly a weakness maybe, but in this small way the book isn't always quite on the mark for my requirements. Nonetheless, a brilliant, get out of jail type resource.

This is a fantastic book with an enormous number of activities that require few, or no, resources. They are organised by skill/language focus and topic, so you can always find something suitable for your lesson. There is everything from quick warmers and coolers to tasks that could last all lesson. I take this book with me whenever I am teaching, in case I need an emergency filler activity!

700!!!! that is a big number. A lot of warmers, starters, coolers, lead ins etc to choose from. They suit all sorts of classes, from beginners to advanced. The activities also inform you what's culturally or socially to be careful of when presenting and what's dangerous etc. Very good, relevant, and resourceful short activities that no ESL teacher can be without.

Me parece un libro muy útil, con una gran variedad de actividades funcionales y útiles para el aprendizaje, además de amenas y divertidas. Las actividades se clasifican en 4 bloques: conversation, functions, grammar y vocabulary y el índice del final libro, mucho más detallado te permite buscar actividades concretas de forma rápida. El libro cumple con mis expectativas.
