Things you need to know about this product before buying
Things you need to know before buying:1. The mat covering doesn't have a "polished" look; in essence, it looks like the top part was printed out by an average printer and glued to the bottom section.2. The pattern on the mat is difficult to discern from the pictures. Think scales -- like scales on a lizard -- and you'll get the idea. (I have the green version.)3. The material on the bottom is smooth (not sticky or rough). This will cause the mat to slide every once in a while when you step on it. Just re-adjust its position and carry on.4. As mentioned in another post, this IS NOT a gel mat. Some friends of ours have a gel mat, and those contour exactly to your feet (think gels that go inside your shoes). THIS mat just provides a soft area to stand on so that your hardwood/tile floors don't cause your back to ache.5. The cushion in this mat does its job: you'll definitely notice a majority of your aches and pains going away as you wash dishes/cook dinner (what I use it for).6. The mat seems to be of solid construction. I've had this mat for about 2 months now, and there appears to be no signs of wear and tear whatsoever. All in all, it's a decent product. The fact that it looks "scaly" and the print job seems average at best (see points #1 and #2) will make me replace this product some time in the future -- purely due to decorative value. For now, however, it does a good "functional" job of alleviating back aches, so I'll use it for a while until we re-do our kitchen.'Hope you found this helpful!

Very comfortable gel mat won't stay in place
I bought this in the 4' length for in front of my kitchen sink area over a year ago. It replaced a beautiful fabric-covered gel comfort mat which was very nice until my dogs decided that it was a great spot to get comfy while gnawing chew toys and bones. The attractiveness of that mat disappeared fairly quickly since it could only be spot cleaned and stains settled into the fabric covering. So, that's why I bought this vinyl covered one, thinking that clean-up would be a breeze. And, as expected, clean-up *is* very easy. Its pebbly-textured vinyl surface resists stains and wipes off easily since the texture doesn't involve any deep recesses.I'm also very pleased with the comfort level when standing on this mat. I've had issues with my knees for the past few years and I bought this one and its prettier predecessor before I had both knees replaced a year ago. The "need" for a comfort mat isn't as critical now as it was before the joint replacement, but it's still nice to have a cushioned area to stand for prolonged periods like when chopping veggies or cleaning up. This mat is very thick and comfortable to stand on; however, the edges are nicely beveled to prevent any tripping over edges. Unlike some others who reviewed this mat, I haven't had any problems whatsoever with the edges curling up. After over a year of regular use, it lays flat and the surface remains in unmarred condition. But now we get to what I REALLY don't like about it. It won't stay put. Not at all. I'm constantly reaching down to move it back into place -- not just occasionally but after every single use. Our kitchen floors are a grid of wide heart pine planks filled with large slate squares. And, unfortunately, these GelPro mats skooch all over slick, hard-surface flooring. I'd bought it in the longer 4' length in order to have it also cover a section of the heart pine that is right between the main kitchen sink and the dishwasher. When in its proper place, the mat is long enough to prevent any dribbled water from hitting the wood plank while loading the dishwasher. And it would protect that wood section perfectly if it didn't keep moving. But after a short period of standing and moving around on it, I'll notice that it's shifted a couple of feet to the left and a foot away from the cabinets. Oddly enough, when I'm intentionally trying to move it back into place or if I just bump the edge with my foot while walking near it, it doesn't slide easily. But there's something about moving and shifting your weight while standing on it, that makes it want to really travel. All in all, it's a nice quality and very comfortable gel mat. It would be perfect if it didn't want to travel across the floor.

Two Stars
Purchased this product 2 years ago. The backing gets stuck on the floor and now is peeling off. This mat isn't going to last more than 2 years.Update: I emailed the company's support team regarding the problem I was having with their mat. I was told that the mat has a 1 year warranty and they were willing to offer 50% off on a new mat. As I'm not really keen on buying another mat only for it to come apart in 2 years, I'm going to pass on their offer. For comparison, I purchased an Imprint Cumulus9 Kitchen Mat at the same as I purchased this mat and I've had no issues with that. I'm going to purchase my replacement from Imprint mats.

UDATE: REPLACED! Originals after a year curled up became a hazard.
"I own two of these, in a different color "Toasted Leather Grain", apparently no longer available. Were fine about a year until both started curling up around the edges.... all the way around to lift up about a half-inch. Causes a trip hazard."I was contacted by GelPro customer service who obviously reads the reviews and believes in standing behind their product well after the warranty. They replaced both of my 2 year old mats with new improved ones! Thanks you GelPro! These new ones are a lot nicer, the edges are formed downward so they hug the floor, and there is much less slippage on the floor. Much better! Thanks again!

Save your money
So disappointed - My first NewLife by GelPro Floor Mat ----- was the Leather Grain style – it was thick and luxurious - like standing on a cloud. When I ordered my second mat I needed a lighter color. Unfortunately the Leather Grain did not have a light color. So I ordered a pebble design. Big disappointment, it was much thinner and the material did not seem equal to the Leather Grain. When I compared the backs of both mats the Pebble material looked different and the top finish shiny and cheap with not much cushion.

Perfect!
I couldn't be happier with these mats. I only ordered one to start with, but after a week ordered a second one. My preference would have been one in front of sink but it was so narrow it made sense to put another one in front of stove. I had a carpet mat there before but was always washing it and there was minimal comfort. They are very easy to clean. They are a little thick so must learn to pick up feet so as not to trip, but that's just a matter of getting used to them. They do slide just a little but easily put back in place. I do have heel pain after standing for a time so will see if they help.….haven't had long enough.

It doesn’t wow me
It is comfortable, let’s set this straight. But it does not wow me like there is nothing else as good as this. And it doesn’t strike me as a worth the money product to improve my way of living. Besides, it does not stay in place, always move around on the floor.

Like walking on a cloud!
I have Plantar Faciitis which means I have very sore feet and I love this mat! We have tried several mats and this by far the best of them all. The only draw back is they are expensive, but you get what you pay for and this mat is like walking on a cloud.

Tacky sticky
This mat is very shiny and feels tacky. Okay, it kinda looks tacky, too, with the fake leather texture pattern. But it feels sticky. A few times I have found myself crouching to wipe it down with spray and a damp cloth thinking someone spilled jam or juice or sugar on it. It's very comfortable to cook with, but I wish it didn't have this surface.

Comfortable to stand on
The mat is very comfortable to stand on. My only concern is that it takes some getting used to "stepping up" onto it. When I first got it, I tripped a couple of times. Am now aware that I should "step up".

Great mat, thickness is suffice
Great mat, thickness is suffice. I stand most of the day at my desk at work and it does a great job. My only concern is that it will get punctured one day as it is more of a vinyl type of material. But I could be wrong, it has held up very well so far. Very lightweight and easy to put away when not in use also. Highly recommend it.10 months later of daily use at work and it has shown no signs of wear. Excellent product.

It's a nice and soft addition to my standing dek
It's a nice and soft addition to my standing desk. The underside of this mat isn't coated with anything and just feels like porous rubber, though. As a result, it doesn't stay put on my wood floors and likes to slide around. Once you're actually standing on it, however, it doesn't go anywhere, so it's not a safety concern.

Super comfy and durable.
Super comfy and durable. Because the finish is flat and uniform, water splashes from the kitchen sink are noticeably visible on the mat. Not a huge deal. It replaced our previous mat which has deteriorated and started to fall apart.

Great mat, reasonable price
Bought this comfort mat to go with a stand up computer workstation. It helps with fatigue from standing for long periods of time. My work space is on a concrete floor, so the extra cushioning is a real benefit. The floor can be cold in winter and this mat also adds a bit of thermal break between the floor and the soles of my shoes.Color is exactly as shown.

love them!
Love these mats! I bought two of them. I keep one by the sink and one by the kitchen island where I do all my chopping. I have a herniated disc and I am waiting for surgery. these mats provide a lot of relief for my back while I am standing. great mats for the price

but would be good to have in front of stove and counter too
Should have gotten a much larger one, as this only fits in front of the sink, but would be good to have in front of stove and counter too. Does seem to cut down on back pain a bit

helpful
It helps well while I am working and standing for 10 hours per day. Chose blue. The color was the exact same on computer. Can tell it will last long.

Earlier versions were better quality. This one has very little gel and is mostly made with an exposed foam material that breaks down over time and absorbs spills. Earlier versions were fully sealed. I was disappointed when it arrived and wasn't as good as the original one I had bought. I guess every great product tries to grow it's profit by reducing its costs and quality. I think the MBAs have taken over the company.

Exactly what I wanted!
It arrived a day after I ordered the comfort mat and it was exactly what I wanted! The size is just right for my needs. It cleans quite easily too.
