Best knife I own
This knife is straight up awesome.. razor sharp, light weight, and wife loves it. In fact she respects it. This knife retains its edge very well. Best knife in my collection at the moment..I started out on dalstrong (shogun series), though satisfied, wanted to try other brands. I came across this Cangshan damascus chef’s knife and get it a chance because of its japanese design and was thoroughly amazed. You have to try it for yourself, you will not regret it!!

Beautiful knife
Absolutely LOVE this beautiful sashimi knife! It cuts like a hot knife through butter. It’s put to great use with all the ahi, aku, ono, mahi and papio I catch! The wood sheath is magnetic on one side so that the sharp edge of the blade doesn’t touch the wood.

Crazy sharp
Amazing knife. Quality is a 10 out of 10 and boy it is SHARP!!!!! The handle is comfortable and easy to control for fine dicing. Yes it is real Damascus and I use it almost every day and it is still shave sharp.

Great knife and even better sheath but…
Great knife, LOVE THE MAGNETIC SHEATH, but damascus gets hung up on bigger pieces of fish, even after wetting blade so it doesn’t cut as smooth as I’d like.

Definitely worth the hype
Absolutely fantastic utility chef knife. Great in any situation, and holds its edge for a while. I've had mine for six months, using it at least a few times a week for various meal preps, and its still as sharp as the day i got it.

Quality
This knife is sexy. My cucumber wraps are paper thin now. Only thing I want expecting was the double angle. I used to single bevel knives so it pulls through different than in used to which is messing up my Avacado fans but I'll get used to it.

Exactly what I wanted
Was looking for a good slicing knife for a reasonable price. Only used it a couple time so far, once for sashimi and one to portion out a Costco sized ribeye chunk. Worked great...so much better than our other knives. Looks great too.

Excellent product. Misleading information
The product is beautiful and high quality. What worries me is that the product description has mixed information. This is not forged Japanese vg-10 steel, it's a customised version inspired by it called carbon x-7 - made by (this is on their website) a Chinese run company in California. They proclaim that the steel is better than the Japanese vg-10. I can't tell if that's true but... it is a lovely blade. Please, ensure you update the description... It's really not fair on us buyers to receive something with mixed information regardless of the product being good. Be passionate and proud of the steel...As a side note... Apparently these blades used to be vg-10 so I can see how this has been missed.-- Update:Almost 4 years on, the knife has not been sharpened once and to this day, is absolutely crazy sharp. It's an absolutely wonderful tool. Well played Cangshan.

Great knife
There is a school of thought with knives that says you should have a bog standard knife set and then one seriously good chef's knife. This is that chef's knife - it is an absolute beauty both in terms of looks and performance. The blade could split atoms on first use. It settles down of course, but in the last four weeks of regular usage has remained exceptionally sharp with just a couple of swipes through a sharpener every couple of days. The walnut sheath looks great and protects the blade if you keep it in a drawer (protects your fingers too, of course).Cheap knives can be made to look great, which is why I waited a month to post this review. This knife is the real thing.

Silkily sharp, excellent craftsmanship.
Amazing craftsmanship. This knife will cut through any food with ease, the only thing you need to be careful about is trying not to lose a finger because it is that silkily sharp! The walnut handle is of a comfortable length and thickness and feels nice in the hand. The Damascus Steel blade is as beautiful as it is sharp with a nice light pattern and mirror like finish. The knife comes beautifully presented in a box and is kept safely within a very nice walnut sheath. The walnut sheath keeps the blade tucked away safely when not in use and it too is very well made. An amazing knife and one that i'm sure with care is going to last us a lifetime.
