I plugged my docking station but my screens aren’t coming up. Do I need drivers?

Yes, this dock requires you to install the DisplayLink Manager software for macOS and Windows. Once installed, you’ll also need to authorize the permissions in macOS so the displays to function. Chrome OS is natively supported.

Can I play media content such as Netflix, Disney+, HBO etc. on macOS?

No, most protected content will not play through our docking stations that use DisplayLink technology.

On macOS, why do I need to enable “Screen recording” permission for the monitors to work?

This permission is required for the DisplayLink driver to access the pixels it needs to function. It does not send any data or pixels back to DisplayLink or StarTech.com.

The KVM-dock says it supports power delivery. Why isn’t it charging my laptop?

To support laptop charging the host USB-C port must support USB Power Delivery (PD). If the host does not support PD, all other functionality on the Dock will work, however the laptop's power adapter will be required separately to charge the battery.

Can this KVM-Dock be used with laptops and desktop PCs?

Yes, this product can be used with a desktop PC. If the PC does not have a USB-C port, use a USB-C to USB-A cable (USB31AC1M). The desktop must have at least one directly connected monitor for the KVM-DOCK to work laptops have a built-in screen).

Does this KVM support EDID emulation so there are no issues switching between systems / monitors?

You will not experience issues when switching between systems/monitors as this Dock does not require EDID emulation. The connected displays communicate directly with the DisplayLink controller on the Dock, ensuring the EDID is not interrupted.
