Q: does the toilet bowl need to be dry?

No there should be water in the bowl

Q: I trust this is hydrochlorid acid. What is it strength in % please

It was marked on the container - a mix of hydrochloric and phosphoric, about that strength I believe but it was a few years ago that I tried it. I have had no success removing stained hard limescale in our toilet with any product. I was resigned to removing most of the water from the U bend and putting in neat bleach. Regular bleaching removes any discolouration and you can pretend that the limescale isn’t there.

Q: What type of protective clothing is recommended?

Well all parts of your body that might come in accidental contact with the strong acids in this product. Gloves, face shield, arm and body protection would be the industrial standard. All strong acid proof material. Hands, face and eyes have to be top priority. A lot depends on how careful you can be. This is just an amateurs opinion.

Q: Can I use this in the waste pipe drain? Can't get rid of the awful stench that comes back through plugholes and there's no blockage anywhere?

To be honest I can not say either way, I used the chemical for cleaning a slow clearing toilet. After flushing the water would drain slowly, now works normally. The chemical was very effective in my case.
