Review: You won’t regret buying one. - I’m so glad that I chose this unit. The Christmas turkey was a disaster and I knew that I had to buy a digital oven thermometer to stop it happening again. The first time I used it was on a rib of beef joint. It turned out perfectly. I wish I had bought this thermometer before Christmas.
Review: Got what I paid for - Bought this as a Christmas gift for my mother, to celebrate her newly installed kitchen. The brand is reputable, and it appears to be a good quality piece of kit, with strain relief springs at both ends of the probe cable and so on. I tested it in my own oven first, and it seemed to work just fine, giving readings that made sense. It's fast, too. Turn off the gas, and you'll see the temperature drop in just a few seconds. Very simple to operate; just two buttons to adjust the alarm temperature. It would be nice if you could adjust the temperature more quickly by pressing and holding the button, but that's no big deal. And that's literally my only complaint.

### ⭐ Expensive and short life of reliability, after which completely unreliable

I have now had three DOT probes. The flex is far too weak and vulnerable for regular use, and after a while it gets kinked (for example by putting it in an oven and closing the door on it) and after a time the probe then gives completely unbelievable readings. I am now on my third flex in about two years. They are not cheap, and I will not buy another. From now on I will use a point and shoot temperature gadget for stocks and the like, and reserve the probe (until it fails) for the internal temperature of roasts
