First impression was to give this 2 stars.....My 7 year old loves this in his room and uses it now for a nightlight. He can change from I think 6-7 different colors. The directions advise to put a couple of drops of dish soap into the container and filling it with R/O water to allow the Jelly fish to swim freely (I used 4 drops of Dawn). I followed the instructions of placing the jelly fish upside down and I waited the advised 24 hours for the fish to sink as they were just floating at the very top. On the 3rd day I took the jelly fish out that were floating at the top and coated them with Dawn soap and put them back in (upside down) and they immediately sank and started to swim. I would suggest coating the jelly fish from the start and pushing them down with a stick or longer spoon. It works great now.

I bought this mainly for my 10 year old. She could install the lamb by herself, and really liked it

There were a few steps involved in the assembly, but once you get past that, it’s really cute. It’s also compact enough to fit on a small desk. Don’t forget that it changes colors, another cute feature.

The media could not be loaded.  I added distilled water, the jellyfish, and turned on this light. The first number of clicks of the power button cycle through the static colors and the last click before off is a slow cycling through all the colors. I prefer the cycling myself so it's slightly obnoxious to get to it but not the worst thing either. The jellyfish do swim around in circles in the lamp but because it's so small they're doing a lap around every 5 seconds so look like they've been drinking too many energy drinks and are hyperactive. That said, the bubbles the circulation makes in the water does create a nice diffusion to scatter the light around and the brightness is just about perfect for a nice night light or mood light. This light draws about 0.9 Watts on white (all LEDs on) so not too bad for leaving on for extended periods either.

Around my house, we really like these different little lava lamps, and we've been looking at the jellyfish ones for awhile now. We loved the cute little, sleek look of this lamp overall, and the blue color is adorable and an excellent ambient color. We were hoping that the jellyfish would be a little more 'active', but they mostly just float around the top. It's still a cute little lamp though.

Very cute jelly fish lava lamp that I got for the grandkids room when they are here. Makes a great nightlight and something for them to look at while they fall asleep. Setting up was very easy just follow the 5 steps and push the button. There is 7 different colors that you change with the button and the last click is for cycling through them automatically. This unit can be powered by batteries or included usb cable. Overall this is super cute for kids brings back the memories from when I was a kid with the tradition lava lamps. Great buy for the price.

I ordered this as a night light for my daughter's room thinking that the ambient light would be nice to sleep by. The lamp is a nice size for a bedside table and seemed durably built. The ability to change the lights (with a rotating light option) was also nice. The light is ambient and a child can easily sleep by it. Unfortunately, the lamp just doesn't work. The jelly fish just stay at the top and never float around or sink at all. There is nothing special or interesting about it, as a result. Even when you turn the lamp off (and there is no current going in it) the jelly fish just stay clustered at the top, somewhat tangled together. I tried separating them and trying it again and this didn't help. I also dumped the whole thing out and started over (of course, following the instructions) and got the same result. Disappointed. Should've just bought her a little lava lamp and called it a day.

I was seriously surprised at how much I like the volcano Lava lamp. You have to add water, then add the red balls, close it up, plug it in and it started up right away. It sucks the little red balls into the bottom and shoots them put through the volcano, and this thing goes very fast! The process of regurgitating the balls and shooting them out is constant and quick. No relaxed slow movement like an actual Lava lamp. This volcano is on steroids and goes for as long as it's powered on, and even after several hours, the outside did not get hot or even warm. That's very different than the Lava lamps which get super hot to the touch. The light in the volcano lamp is only red, but it's a nice darkish hue and makes a wonderful night light or accent light. It makes a small sound but it's quite quiet. Requires being plugged into a USB plug while running. This is a fun toy and pretty darn entertaining too.
