Simple products of the land made perfect
This is a second edition that has real value. I have both editions. This editions not only has updates, but also has new recipes. The first is food-stained given my propensity to have the book open every time I cook. Spiral bound next time!I took a photo on a page with a simple recipe which is a good place to start to profile what I like about this cookbook. What's different about a sweet potato? Well, start by parboiling, then season with cumin, Don't mash, chunk, season with CUMIN and walnuts and make a delish sauce with Vermont Maple Syrup. Not only are the specifics of the recipe tested to be foolproof but each recipe tells a story. In this one, I learned about Square Deal Farm and its 6,000 taps on Maple trees. The owners, like so many of the people profiled started small with 250 taps. For me, like most cooks, reading the book has equal value to the recipes. The book is an homage to the hard-working backbone of Vermont and a commitment to excellence in food.If you bought the first edition, you will want this one too. If you don't yet have a cookbook that profiles local farms, Vermont inns, and farm-to-table recipes, this is the one.

So excited!
My daughter raved about this book. She made several recipes from it for me. I loved every one (especially the maple, walnut sweet potatoes), so I decided to get the book as a gift for a friend who just loves all things Vermont. My cooking days are behind me at 93 but yours aren't.
