Good concept - but terrible user interface and unreliable phone app.
I have had one of these in my BMW X5 for a acouple of years. It was very easy to fit, simply uplugging the CD changer in the boot, then plugging in this box with the supplied adaptor cable. When I select the CD player the Grom should come on and start playing (usually it does, sometimes not, sometimes it crashes for no apparent reason). Pressing pre-set button 6 sometimes makes the Grom menu appear so that you can navigate any music on a plugged in USB stick. The music and folders have to be carefully numbered otherwise it crashes the Grom, and even then mine often randomy jums to a different artist/folder with no explanation. The user interface on the car screen is absolutly terrible - it only displays part of a tracks filename (not ID3 tag) and sometimes this disappears or even overwrites the screen when I am listening to the radio.Everytime a button is pressed a clck comes through on the car speakers. Car steering wheel controls allow next/previous track and control of volume. When it is playing music it sounds great and supports a wide range of music formats including flac.I have also tried using this with my android phone and the aalinq app. This again sometimes works well and other times is very unreliable. After a few unexpected flat phone batteries I deleted it.Overall my impression is that the software is not finished - they have tried to make it work with too many different cars, with the result it doesn't work well with any, especially mine.
