Top tier quality, typical of Gulikit

The moduled Gulikit makes now are just plug and play, no soldering of the touch pads required, they're pre-installed and with the stick caps. The short version: If you like the lightest resistance, most sensitive sticks you can get, these are worth it as a day 1 upgrade.Feel wise, I have heard people say they couldn't really tell a difference. I can. The sticks are maybe 10-20% lighter in resistance to movement, so they feel faster and less sluggish than the (already very good) factory sticks. they're also noticeably more sensitive to very small inputs. I found precision aiming in FPS games DRAMATICALLY improved, I was more "gesturing" directions with the tips of my thumbs after setting the dead zones very small. (don't set them to full "zero", as they'll feel very nervous and twitchy just under the pressure of your thumb resting on them. I went with about 4000 on mine in the deck calibration)You also don't need to know before you buy if you have an A or B model (you can find out in the settings but don't need to check before you buy these) because these just come with a switch on the back that toggles between A and B, so they're compatible with all decks. just check the stick serial number before you start taking it apart.Install was a breeze. You need one small philips driver and a thin stiff pry tool (I had to use a metal one, my plastic ones weren't stiff enough) and just get an edge right in at the corner of the grip side of the shoulder buttons. Once you hear a satisfying "pop", don't run the tool down the side (it just won't work) but feel down until you get a "slot" in the body, insert the tool there, and pop again. Easy for a first timer, didn't leave a scratch on the case.Just follow gulikit's guide on their website, all you can skip now is the soldering and cap replacement steps since they're included now, and make sure you flip the switch on each controller to set it to A or B mode (if you're absolutely unsure, go with B. A versions were just the first steam decks, but it's right there in the settings to check)Before you close it up, calibrate them. There's a tiny button on the back of each stick module. Both of my sticks were at "zero" where they were slightly down and to the left. You correct this by pushing the stick a little bit further in the direction that it's errored (so for me, push slightly down and to the left) and then using your other hand, press the micro button on the back of the module, then release the stick. It took me 5-10tries to get it perfect for the left stick and one try for the right. It's a little fiddly, but should take under 2 minutes. You don't NEED to do this if you just set the deadzones larger, but it will feel less precise - it's not a defect with the sticks, your factory sticks were just calibrated at the factory, and you're doing what was done to it before it was boxed up.Overall, I would say for the tiny price of $30, these are a noticeable improvement to my hands. I already use a gulikit king kong pro 2 controller and these sticks feel identical - very light, very smooth, very precise. The difference might be subtle for some, but dramatic for others. For me, it was dramatic. I like featherlight sticks and heavier hall effect sticks like the 8bitdo ultimate are not pleasant to me. The factory sticks of the deck were pretty superb, but there's just an extra degree of lightness and sensitivity that the gulikit sticks bring to the party, and I found it had a big difference right where I found the factory ones lacking - ultra fine precision aiming.I was on the fence since so many people said they noticed no improvement, but I was in the mood to do some modding and I already knew gulikit made excellent stuff. And I'm glad I did.

Great product

Was skeptical at first due to some reviews saying they did not seat correctly after installation and grinding noises while rotating them. I guess those instances were just lemons because mine installed perfect and no noises when using them. They are even better than the OEM ones, and they are Hall effect so no chance of stick drift. Hope they stand the test of time

Great replacement option

I started getting the dreaded drift on my LCD Steam Deck, and these were one of the first products recommended. Hall effect joysticks are what everyone on Reddit recommends as well, so I decided to try them out. These have been fantastic. Installation was very easy, three screws per joystick. Took five minutes to install, really. The right stick pulls very slightly left, but still well within the default dead zone, and very close to cented. Left stick is right on the money. Well worth the price!

Good thumbsticks! But missing instructions

I just got these about 30 minutes about and it took about 15 minutes to remove the old thumbsticks and install the new ones. After that, I went in and did a calibration and they seem to be working very well!I did experience some issue with the left thumbstick where it felt really stiff and it also would stick to one side if held in sometimes. I almost requested a refund/return but I felt this was likely an issue on my end. I seem to be right. I cleaned both thumbstick areas when installing these, but something still seemed to be there. I ended up pulling up on the thumbstick (while it was installed) and then moved it around and then pushed it down and this seems to have fixed it! Whatever was there that was causing this stiffness seems to now be dislodged and now it's as smooth as the other thumbstick.I have one big issue wit this though. I won't be taking stars off because they remedy it somewhat, but it still needs to be said:There are no instructions that come with this. Just the box, the plastic housing for the thumbsticks, and the thumbsticks. That is it.The back of the box does say you need to switch the module depending on your Steam Deck module but doesn't tell you how to know this. This is remedied by the Amazon listing's pictures showing this and how to know which switch you need. So as long as this listing is up, you can find this information, but if it gets taken down, then good luck. Hopefully another site or a helpful YouTube video will have this information for you.It would have been helpful to have some information to know how this should be installed and give some tips too. I was very cautious on the ribbon cable but would have liked some direction here because I almost did this wrong by not inserting the cable in fully. I only knew this because I am familiar with hardware installs/fixes. A newbie would have installed these incorrectly and put everything back together to find it doesn't work or seems faulty and wouldn't have known they did something wrong. So for any newbies out there: look for a helpful YouTube video on how to do this install if you plan to do this yourself so you know how to do this correctly. Also, it needs to be mentioned that calibration should be done after this install but this is never mentioned on the box or anywhere in this listing, as far as I can tell. Calibration is essential to ensure you are getting the absolute best results from this install.I'll provide the instructions below since it was a bit tricky for me to find:1. Hold the power button and then select Switch to Desktop.2. Open the "Start menu" in the lower left corner and then search for "konsole"3. Hold Steam button + X button for the keyboard if needed or use an external keyboard.4. Type "thumbstick_cal" without quotations and then hit Enter on the keyboard5. Follow the steps to do the calibration.6. DoneThat really helped reduce the dead zone. You can check your dead zone by going back to Steam gaming mode, going to Settings, going to Controller, click Open on Calibration & Advanced Settings, and then check your dead zones here. Prior to the calibration, the dead zone was really off. After, the dead zone is nearly non-existent.

Best replacement

Bought this to replace my steam deck's right joystick (began to have drifts) since it's pretty well known in the steam deck community. It was very easy to replace and config, I could definitely feel the difference between this and the original joystick. I havent tried any fast paced fps games yet but it feels very smooth in Monster Hunter Wilds. Highly recommended if there is drifting problem.

Works great

I thought that one of the sticks was junk, it didn't slide very well and kept going up or just staying. I took the time to take it apart and there was too much glue in one spot. Removed some of that and perfection. Just a small quality control they can work on but yeah, great upgrade! :)
