Our Best Known World Religions: An Educational Guide to Our 7 Best Known World Faiths

I bought this book after it was recommended to me by a colleague. I have recently started a new job where the client base is very ethnically diverse and I wanted to find out more about the range of religions my clients follow. I found the book very informative, well written and well structured. There is enough information to provide a good overview of each religion without getting overwhelmed or bogged down with unnecessary detail. I wish this book had been around when I was at school as I seem to remember how dull all the text books were in my RE lessons! Would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting a user-friendly introduction to world faiths.

I really enjoyed this book. Great to have the main religions under one roof so to speak where you can easily read and learn where they were all established and came to be. I think its wonderful if we all have a good understanding of each others faiths and beliefs, we can all learn something. It is so easy not to fully understand and just accept others point of view without really knowing ourselves. Easy and so interesting to read. It is well written and I learnt many new facts. Highly recommend.

This book takes you on a journey across all of the key religions, it was great to be able to get an understanding of them all from one book.

Thought I knew a lot about the different religions but learnt a lot from this book and found it very informative. Good points made regarding atheism and agnosticism.

This book is a well written, easy read. It was informative and insightful and great to have all the best known religions under one title. My daughter is studying RE at high school and I will be passing it on to her next, as think it will help with her GCSEs. I highly recommend this book, even if you're not religious. It's eye-opening.

All world belief systems contribute something important to individuals. This is a well written book which covers not only the main faith-based systems around the world, but refreshingly also includes earth-based belief systems. This book is a fascinating journey. I was particularly interested in the section about the Sunni and Shia sects, and what lay underneath their differences. Well worth a read. Highly recommended.

I’ve long held the view that each religion whether ancient or modern is a doctrine written by ‘man’ to preach the ideal way in which one should conduct oneself. Often some religions promise dire consequences to fall foul of these preachings. This is a fascinating subject and the book is extremely well written, offering a glimpse into each culture. Thoroughly recommended.

An inspiring overview of each religion without getting bogged down with too much detail. I wouldn't have picked up the book if it was page heavy but felt really better informed by reading this. Everyone should have an understanding of religions other than their own faith. As a Christian, I was particularly interested in that chapter but to respect other faiths also.

I loved the background stories of the many different religions. The author does a great job of presenting the facts of many religions and philosophies.

Great overview of various religions around the world. I particularly enjoyed the Hindu and Buddhist perspectives. While I'm not religious persa, I consider myself spiritual and learnt a lot.

This book which is accessible to all explains the concept of religion that has the capacity to bring people together yet also separate them severely. Understanding these religions is paramount to living peacefully in this diverse world of ours. Great book!
